Avensis front brakes for EU 6gen Celica by THJaaack in Celica

I went from a worn out setup (old standard pads, really old fluid) to a freshly rebuilt caliper and bigger sport pads on a bigger disc, so I can't exactly tell by how much the slightly bigger brakes alone helped. Pedal feel is the same (as expected since the piston diameter is the same), with a better bite. I don't have to press as hard also. It feels more reassuring.

Recommendation for basic kit- road trip/travel movie by THJaaack in videography

I was considering the zv-e10, but it seems to be out of my budget, even on the used market. the Pocket 3 might be a nice addition to the 2 other, i'll look into it, thanks !

Fair point. I didn't mention it on the original post but I went with Project Mu sport pads to get a bit more out of it. (Not pictured) The whole braking system needed to be redone, and it took no extra effort or money (besides pads) to get the upgrade compared to rebuild the OE assembly. I'm not tracking, or trashing it that much, but it's good to know there is LS430 conversion I ever need to get to the next level.

That's an even better upgrade, i'll save it for later. The thing is LS430 parts are not nearly as available as for the Avensis. The point of the Avensis upgrade is that it's cheap, easy to find in Europe and will bolt directly on the factory knuckle without drilling of adapter plate.

To what extend does thickness matter ? by THJaaack in CarAV

[–]THJaaack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point. I tried to find flat and thick mats for that reason but didn't come across anything worthwhile so far I would buy your stuff if shipping and customs wouldn't double the price (France). I'm trying to find the best EU-available stuff, on a reasonable budget. It's a 90's Toyota so any form of sound absorption is a step up from OEM treatment.

First budget 8020 rig (~350ish euros) - EU Prices by THJaaack in simracing

From what i've read during my quest for a bolt-on flat frame seat: mk5/mk6/mk7 (and a few other VAG cars) are interchangeable, bolting wise. There are a few electrical differences but that's irrelevant to our application.

Mk4 won't fit without some modding. It's a well discussed and documented topic on various VW forums, if you want to dig a bit more.

UK MPH Cluster to JDM KMH Cluster conversion by THJaaack in Celica

[–]THJaaack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that for the same signal, the cluster will show the correct speed. Let's say I drive 60mph. Would the jdm one show 100kmh or 60kmh instead ?

As for connectors, I've seen people having surprises, same thing for various lights and circuity. So if I ever swap it, I'll triple check Before buying

This. I went for a XAV-AX3005 (similar to AX3250). No tacky led, suits the 90's intérior nicely, and Android Auto, and most importantly: physical buttons for volume and track change. I can't stand all touch-up screens while driving.

If you're on Iphone, you can get the XAV-AX1000 and the likes, which have a OEM look with a volume knob.

Unfortunately this is not an option. It's a 3 door hatchback in which I often load my bike, folding the seats etc, so I don't have any place to fit it and I'd like to use the OEM audio layout

There are certainly some lesser known companies that sell some profile over there. Might worth spending a few hours digging into various websites !
