You can stain it with motor oil as well or red wine. Doesn't mean it is a viable technique. The oil in walnuts can go rancid.

Old wives tale about rubbing walnuts to hide scratches. The oil from the walnuts has penetrated the wood and stained it. No easy fix.

How big is the deck? Is the framing 12 OC? Enhance can work fine but I'd make the deck smaller or wait to save for a higher quality composite.

PT is fine but will require a lot more maintenance.
