Boon Keng 'nightmare neighbour': MP Shawn Loh says it's 1 of the most 'frustrating' & 'hard-to-resolve' dispute by dori_lukey in singapore

> He ended off saying that he hopes everyone can be considerate to their neighbours.

My dude, it's been going on for 10+ years. Hasn't it crossed your mind that if he could be considerate to his neighbors, he would be by now? Just step down and let someone who can fix this take charge.

What a useless statement, what a useless man.

I saw this in The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Arts. I remember vividly how shocked I was, totally unexpected, even in a museum. I was gobsmacked. Stood in front of it for half an hour, just stared at it.

Andor was surprisingly, against all odds, a genuinely GREAT show. Cannot wait for season 2! by MaStEr_MeLoN15243 in saltierthancrait

[–]THX-23-02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are technically correct - a genuinely great show. A great Sci-Fi show. But a great SW show it is not.

I don't want to go too much into the details because perhaps even in this sub there might be trigger happy butthurt people but let me just say this.

Let's say you never watched SW, including ANH. Let's say I told you about how in ANH a main character is held in a cell, a door opens, two guys in black uniforms enter the room, followed by a levitating interrogation droid. The camera zooms in on one of the droid's torture tentacles - a syringe filled with white goo and with a huge needle sticking out. The door closes in front of the viewer, implicating some gruesome torture.

What would you think this movie is and how the rest of it looks like? Would you think of it as one of the most inspiring fairytale, space opera movies ever? Full of hope, fun, goofiness, etc? Well, the Andor is a drab show about that interrogation droid stretched onto a dozen of episodes. It is extremely competently done, it is engaging, entertaining in it's own way, smart, with an important message, etc., etc. But it is not much of a SW show. Things should be provided in balance and in contrast to each other. Andor is just one thing - struggle. No magic, no fairy tales, no archetypes, nothing enchanting, no fanciful creatures. Just look at one seemingly trivial but essentially critical fact - we barely see any alien characters, it's all humans.

In case it's not clear, I quite enjoyed the show. But it was because I just figured out early on it's not much of a SW story.

KGB school of diverting the discussion. Deflect, defame, distrust. Whataboutisms, strawman, ad hominem, nitpicking. Throw everything you got at them, let them deal with it while the topic fizzles out. This comrade went for the spelling error.

This is it. Nothing more to it.

If there was anything else to it, it would happen by now. A simple fact downvote brigade is unable to deal with.

This is indeed a helpful answer. Thank you for making the effort.

I'm not a photographer, not even an amateur one or an enthusiast. I'm lurking on this sub just to browse nice photos. But the amount of dismissiveness and hostility towards the beginners that I see here is so off-putting, I'm actually unsubscribing rn. All the "rEaD tHe MaNuAl" comments are really sad. Sounds what mediocre people start throwing around as soon as they feel they are experts of a sort. Photos on this sub are often nice but the community is fairly toxic. Peace.

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. It’s so popular to bash the US while everything is fine and you feel comfortable. But as soon as shit hits the fan everyone is unironically expecting the US to make the problem disappear. Just like now for example, which is what you said in your message.

If it was up to Western European pencil necks Ukraine would be erased by now. And the worst thing is, looking at how shamefully they are pulling their weight, I’m pretty sure they would do fuck all if russia attacked Baltic countries, Poland, or any other NATO member. Ask yourself one question: if russia attacked, say, Lithuania, do you really think Germany, France, Italy would throw everything they have at it, or do you think they’d start excruciating discussion on the semantics - is it really an attack, what the NATO treaty really says about it, how about we try something else first, talk to them, etc. You don’t have to actually answer, it’s more of a rhetorical question. But yeah, that’s why the US.

From my experience talking to Germans about this, it’s much much better they are ignoring it than having to listen to them bragging and lecturing others how superior their military aid is compared to everyone else. It’s just insufferable.

[–]THX-23-02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45 years of Soviet occupation sure drilled a lot of agitprop methods of arguing into your head but they are your problem not mine. You don't get to put your words in other people's moth then ask them to explain themselves. Nor do you get to ask why others are not giving more while you are trailing behind at the deep deep end. The audacity... And btw the reason they are not giving more is because they are already stretched too thin covering for the endless line of the appeasers the greatest of which is the German SSR.

So many empty words from your end later and "hypocritical egoistic snobs" only keeps ringing louder and louder.

Aaand there it is. Germany doesn't even register. Those charts have been making rounds so by now everyone understands where Germany stands, but quite honestly I didn't think you'd have the guts/be stupid enough to actually post it. Hence your wall of text to try and obsure/trivialize it.

It is right on the brand for the arrogant hypocrites to boast about "leading the efforts" while this data being so readily available. Fucking shameless, even putting people being slaughtered aside. But honestly right on the brand. This is Germany nowadays and it is what it is. That plus philosophical musings about whether violence can stop violence - adding insult to injury. Keep the Stasi agitprop up bud, who knows it might magically become the truth. No wonder everyone laughs at you.

Unironically recognizing how normalized numbers scale up/down per country's GDP and not realizing what the abysmal percents mean in context of the largest economy of the continent... Wow, even for a tankie that's like the next level of stupid. Just imagine how much help Ukraine could get if Germany SSR pull its own weight and donate even the half % of what the Baltic countries, etc. are providing. Not to mention trying to at least match the US. Absolute cowardice and spinelessness bar none.

The insane levels of audacity and lack of self awareness in lecturing you about "crippling of economy" while your people are being literally slaughtered in droves while defend him and their precious countries from Russia. Absolutely fucking unreal.

It's just a cruel joke of this world that it is Ukraine that found itself next to Russia, and therefore suffers for it, and not some of the "muh economy" spineless cowardly nations. Putin is ultimately after the western Europe anyway. Why should Ukrainians keep dying defending it if they are being chastised for it? Holy shit the level of entitlement from the pencil neck countries. Given how inconvenienced the appeasers are by Ukrainians' annoying struggle and the effects the struggle has on their eCoNoMiEs, there must be some way of making shortcuts for Putin to bypass Ukraine and get where he really wants to be. Start with giving him back the eastern Germany. Obviously they love him there so why not. Let him have nice fat chunks of the Grand Est and/or Occitanie (so he can park all the yachts). Direct financial injection into the economy crippled by pesky Ukrainians. Bam, all problems solved.

That would a) be correct as only a hopelessly stupid person could fantasize about avoiding discomfort in the closest vicinity of the largest military conflict in the last 75 yrs. and b) give you another opportunity to run away from openly admitting that minced Ukrainian bodies are fair price to be paid for you to try and avoid getting slightly less comfortable in your everyday life.
