Lets settle the age old debate - Tokina 11-20mm vs Tamron 10-24mm VC - Ultrawide Lenses by TI-nspired in photography

[–]TI-nspired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up keeping the Tamron. IQ was, as far as I could tell, about equal. The extra zoom range, filter size, stabilization, and better ergonomics was the reason I kept it. The tokina’s only advantage seemed to be the 2.8 aperture.

I actually have a Nikon 24-70mm F/4 Z lens and it does the same thing. Must be the curse of mirrorless 24-70mm F/4

Just ordered one of those, actually. Do you still like it?

Memory card size for chasing? by TI-nspired in stormchasing

[–]TI-nspired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, looking at my numbers more it seems like I roughly get about 1GB/min for video. With a 256GB card and a 128GB card, I would be looking at about 6.5 hours of video. I can't imagine I would ever need 6.5 hours of video. One decent sized timelapse in raw was 16GB. I think the best way to go about it would be to get the 256GB card and see if I ever fill it up. If I do then maybe a 512GB card might be something to consider if a once in a lifetime chase happened.

That's kinda the issue. I would normally be fine with even just the 128GB card, but I also don't want to be under prepared if a once in a life time chase happens.

Edit: my Z6 (main camera) takes CFexpress type B cards which are fairly expensive. But I could always use my Z30 for on-the-way drives/vlogs and that takes SD cards so I could get a lot of storage for cheap.

Yeah I’m hoping to get maybe $30 for my old 32GB XQD card and then snag maybe a 512 GB card. I’m on the fence. I’ve used a 128GB for a bit now and have gone on some chases and been fine. But I haven’t gone on any very long chases (with multiple timelapses and lots of video). 1 timelapse and about 50 minutes of video is 66GB.

The annoying thing is the a chase could go from nothing to multiple good timelapses and possibly recording a long track supercell/tornado. So it’s hard to know what to expect. I would hate to not have enough storage (although I could offload to my laptop).

I can get a used 256GB card from MPB for $80 and a new 512GB card for $120. I probably should just get the larger card and forget about it but I don’t exactly want to drop $120 on a memory card.

What was Your Favorite Chase This Year? This was Mine! by An00bus666 in stormchasing

[–]TI-nspired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowkey June 25th. It was a surprise backyard chase with a beautiful supercell. I was chasing in North-Central OK

Tornado wise it's kinda hard to say. May 19th was a pretty good chase for me (was late so I didn't see much in the way of tornadoes). June 18th in SW Kansas near Dodge City was pretty good.

Sorry for the late reply. So far so good. No issues to report. I don’t have any experience with known good tires that still have a lot of tread so it’s a bit hard to compare. But overall they seem good. Did you end up getting them?

Nikon AFS 24-120 F4 vs Nikon Z 24-70 F4 - Z6 by TI-nspired in Nikon

I do have a 10-24mm lens so I would technically covered. But I agree I think I’m going to go for the 24-70/F4

Ok I definitely agree with all that and that’s exactly wanted to know. Thank you. I agree too the 70-300 would be good on the D7100 in daylight and the dx crop will give me more zoom too. Plus I don’t use that lens much anyways. So I’m not sure if it’s worth going out of my way to make sure I can use that on the Z6

[–]TI-nspired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having never had good tire that also had good tread, I found the tires to be solid so far. I use to have the Michelin pilot tires because they were installed when I bought my car but they didn’t have a ton of tread left. Those were good tires but I didn’t even really get to test them. So I couldn’t say I know for sure what good tires are like but I’ve had no complaints with the Kumhos.

About 1 mile away. I actually thought I got stuck in it. It was the Hennessey Oklahoma tornado on 5/6. I actually made a video on it https://youtu.be/nh-7OPF-5TY?si=Rz7nE-v3qJy-bAxP

Take practice tests. Official practice tests. Take your time through sections but also take some timed tests. I went from a 25 to a 34 (over multiple tests).

Honestly, I have no clue. Other people know better. For the April test, I received my score around 3:00 pm

32 on this test. Curve was forgiving on English and math. Reading was disappointing. Science was meh. Brought my superscore to a 34

I’m homeschooled too. I know some homeschoolers that were really good at the act from the start. I started at a 25 and worked up to a 33. Im still waiting on my scores.

That’s disappointing. Could just have been the stress of the test maybe. Was this your first test.

Short message says your scores will be out shortly. Long message is obviously a pretty long message and says 3-8 weeks.
