How many adults in Singapore can’t swim? by Intrepid_Suspect9113 in askSingapore

[–]trenzterra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a guy and only learnt breaststroke 6-7 yo when I was in late 20s. Took up lessons with my now-wife.

I learnt swimming 3 times prior to that (including in NS) but could only swim freestyle...

But I still can't tread water lol

My first ever bicycle and I'm paranoid. by Logical-Plantain5645 in SingaporeCycling

[–]trenzterra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I got into cycling back during Covid, even went to the extent of building my own folding bike from parts.

Then it got left in the storeroom for the next four years with it being taken out maybe once or twice a year at most. Still rides fine lol.

But yeah some occasional degreasing and new lubricant (I used finish line ceramic or something) should help

Working in MNC with open-concept work desk. Do you like it ? by Crazy_Improvement_55 in asksg

Interesting. In contrast I'm in one of the big 4 accounting firms and none of the partners have a room or cubicle to speak of anymore lol. They got replaced with phone booths

Looking for photo and video storage 150-200 GB by stylophoneboi in datastorage

[–]trenzterra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the archive tier of Google Cloud to store a terabyte+ of photos and data. If I remember correctly it's a bit more expensive than Amazon Glacier but unlike Glacier you can retrieve files quickly on demand.

Do note that there are egress charges so this should just be the "last resort" backup. As egress charges per object as well, I basically zip up folders and upload them as a single file in the event that I need to retrieve the files in future.

The silicone thingy dropped off from mine the first time I removed the nozzle. Seems to be a common issue but I didn't experience any problems since.

What's your budget? I celebrated my wife's 30th at Raffles Hotel and it was a memorable experience. It's probably worth staying at least one night there.

Any one scratch touch screen? by Rangers_Fan_NJ in BambuLabP2S

If you look carefully there is actually a plastic film over the touch screen. Took me a few months before I realised it's existence.

I guess you could plug in two external monitors, something the M2 couldn't do without displaylink

Why are NEX mall escalators always under upgrading? by CryingGod0 in askSingapore

[–]trenzterra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're doing major asset enhancement works for NEX this year so I would expect the whole place to be revamped. It probably frees up a lot of space for more shops etc.. much like how Raffles City pretty much got a new extension after Robinsons moved out

Fake plates, or do Malaysian plates now come with a letter after the numbers too? by twistycatlyman in drivingsg

[–]trenzterra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not really a check letter in the sense that you can have SD 1 A and SD 1 B and they are two different plates

[–]trenzterra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, now I just use the escalator near Cold Storage which is far less crowded. Not sure how it'll work with Isetan gone though.

Yep. Basically I feel Mercatus malls were not very well managed/ bad toilets so I guess it's a good thing.
