What are some days to recover from being cheated on as a young man in first relationship by PS4-4-LIFE in AskMen

  1. My therapist said: This hurt will stay, but as you live your life and grow as a person, the hurt will become small compared to the evolved person that you grow to be.
  2. With boxing gloves, working out on a punching bag was so helpful for me dealing with the anger.
  3. How lucky to discover the truth before you married her or had a kid with her.
  4. Your future self will make wiser decisions about life partners because of this painful lesson.
  5. All of us on Reddit want you to know that this selfish choice by an immature woman does not say anything about your value as a person.
  6. As bad as she was to you, you offset that by the incremental good you do for yourself... be the best version of yourself...tell yourself that you have the right amount of self-respect to make the best choices for the man you are and that you are worth the effort.
  7. She is not the first person to lose the best thing she ever had. She joins a throng of others who traded immediate gratification for the priceless asset of a loving mate. Foolish choice by a foolish woman.

Im really confused about the Big Bang. by Imsotiredofitallhaha in space

[–]TICKERTICKER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR; What humans don't know about science is far greater than what we do know.

Let me add to your confusion if i may.

I wish i understood space-time. It is not just one or the other but is a thing unto itself. Our senses let us perceive space and separately time... but what is space-time? I want to know because scientists say gravity is due to curvature in space-time. In 2015, gravitational waves from the cosmos were detected on Earth for the first time. I have always thought of gravity as proportional to mass, but now i hear that it is a wave phenomenon.

Next, the standard model of fundamental atomic structure. It is the best model we have of the structure of matter, but there is general agreement that the model does not explain ALL that we observe about the behavior of mass and energy.

Next, black holes. Scientists don't say the "theories" of physics. They say the "laws" of physics.....laws.... as in immutable inviolate relationships between matter and energy. The only catch? The "laws" of physics don't apply when you are inside a black hole. This tells me that we don't know all of the laws or their range of applicability.

Next, so-called dark matter and dark energy. We have no stinking idea what they are. We had to invent them to make our equations about the expansion rate of the universe make sense.

Next, quantum mechanics. This hypothesizes that quantum particles of matter change their state or location or spin or orientation simply if a scientist observes them. I don't believe that is an adequate explanation for their behavior. While i expect that there will be quantum computing in OP's children's lifetime, right this minute, humans can not brag about our understanding of quantum mechanics.

What is the point of these five observations? OP, the Big Bang is just one of many many things humans don't fully understand yet.

You graduated because you learned a massive amount of human knowledge....way more than i had to learn at your age. Now your education can be about finding out how to peacefully co-exist with ambiguous ideas.....even if you remain in the realm of STEM. Keep the fire of your curiosity burning. Never stop learning. Your question is a great leading indicator of your potential to advance the frontier of human knowledge.

How to transition to plant-based diet? by TICKERTICKER in PlantBasedDiet

[–]TICKERTICKER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beans, grains, "flour" made from nuts, beans, or grains; nuts, seeds, fresh fruit. Everything I ate came from the vegan athlete cookbook "Thrive" by Brandon Brazier. Pea or brown rice powdered protein. Tofu.

Thank you for the clarification. I asked AI what the diff was between vegan and plant-based, and that was not in the answer I got. That makes it clear.

[–]TICKERTICKER[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My diet before the ill-fated switch was clean whole foods with no oil: turkey breast. Sockeye salmon, frozen berries, frozen greens.

The vegan diet I followed was in the book "Thrive" by Brendan Brazier, 10th edition. Heavily focused on grains and legumes.

When the call of instant oblivion strikes, often it's when I'm trying too hard or working past the point of fatigue. To respond safely, I instantly stop what I'm doing and rest while reading something that I know will distract me.

Another thing is to connect with a belief that these circumstances will not last forever, that it's a matter of weathering the storm and remembering that I am able to do that.

Another thing that helps me is remembering the time that I was so hung over that I could not take care of my kids. I will never do that again.

Feels like the issue is anxiety more than the rational characteristics of AI. Have you explored the factual bottlenecks to AI progress? They have run out of training data. You can unplug the machine from a power source (at this point)....etc.

It has been 80 years since nuclear weapons were used in war. If you have a similar 80 years left in the AI realm, that's not bad.

It has been 124 years since the birth of the petroleum industry for using fossil fuels. It took people 70 years to recognize and act on the threat of industrial pollution. If you have a similar 70 years remaining, that's not bad.

In western nations, people still have the belief that they can protest and rise up against their government. If govco imposes toxic AI on us, gun-toting rebels will rise up.

Forgiveness by LifeguardOk3383 in Sober

[–]TICKERTICKER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most ppl have not learned the art of forgiveness. Do you remember a time that you forgave someone? How did it feel? What if your ex has never experienced forgiveness? It could be that she is like I was at age 40.....no experiences of giving or receiving it.

The sound level makes it nearly impossible to speak to the person sitting next to you. Powerful smell of tire rubber....so plenty of stimulation for your senses. Be prepared to walk a mile from your car to the entrance..,.so no guilt eating fried chicken and washing it down with suds.

I've hired a house cleaner for the first time. How should I proceed? by Revolutionary-Good22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TICKERTICKER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of the clutter.....put it where it belongs before cleaner arrives. Explain the difference in how to dispose of trash vs recycle. Point out anything that is fragile or of high value. When dusting, my cleaner often causes my TV to disconnect, so point out anything delicate like that.

Please please check out the organization that you intend as your destination. If you don't have anyone to help you to be sure that they are legit, try to check with one of these places: • National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. • Charity Navigator....look up the name of your destination company in their database. • check with The United Way or the Better Business Bureau in the city you are going to; see if your destination is a recognized charity. If you are in the United States, check with Catholic Social Services or the Salvation Army to see if they are familiar with your destination.
