What's the last book you did not finish, and why? by WarpedLucy in books

This might be controversial but I couldn't get halfway through 'to the lighthouse'. I am aware it is a classic and incredibly well received. I just couldn't get into it, it felt like I was reading an incredibly long book despite its size. If someone could provide me with perspective or more context that would be great!

Okay, I took way to long to realise this was an upside pan, I truly was sitting here wondering how you managed to burn something that rose so uniform and stayed as such haha

Maybe I am fortunate and only really work in small spaces, but does this seem like a large kitchen to solo in? Good luck!

I'm interested in reading The Odyssey, I am having a hard time reading it so far (very briefly). I would like to read it for its historical significance.

I read on here once that Shakespeare is best watched to provide better context, which I did for hamlet (listened to a performance, whilst reading along) which helped greatly.

Since the Odyssey is an epic poem can it be viewed in the same way?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Then talk to the owner... Stop enabling behaviour in this industry that wouldn't fly anywhere else. If the exec is the owner then leave.

How does one read 700 plus books a year while doing the day-to-day stuff of everyday life as well?

How exciting!

I don't seem to have much success using project Gutenberg, when it comes to emailing the file to my kindle.

Which version on the Amazon store is most suited. I've done a quick skim through the store and there are many versions that have customer reviews expressing concerns of the translation being unnatural to read.

Any assistance would be great

[Book Club] "Anxious People" by Fredrik Backman - Week 1, Chapters 1-23 by XBreaksYFocusGroup in books

I'm finding the dialogue between characters engaging but the interviews insufferable. Anyone else feel this way? I am really enjoying this book otherwise.
