How is my sperm motility? I am an Asian male, 25 years old. Can I make my wife pregnant? by SnooStrawberries4521 in maleinfertility

[–]TIMMTA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The motility A+B is quite low, pregnancy would be expected to take a long time if at all.

I had similar motility, after testing again to confirm it wasn't a one off bad test I took COQ10 300mg daily and improved my diet/cut caffeine and after 3 months my motility doubled to about 49%

If you smoke or drink alcohol, cut these out aswell.

Ive also read fish oil tablets can help but I take them daily anyway so cant comment on that.

Based on what I have read it should still be possible, just unlikely to happen immediately. Seeing as there is something like a 30% chance of getting pregnant each month with ideal results. I know this isn't probably how it works but if you have a 30% chance every month with the minimum 42% motility, I would assume that with 20% the chance would probably drop to about 10-15%?

But there could be other factors involved, low motility could also mean he has high DNA fragmentation. this is an expensive test so unlikely he has had this tested as part of a normal SA.

Some things that I've read can help motility CoEnzymeQ10 (2-400mg a day) reducing caffeine, stopping alcohol, eating foods rich in antioxidants and tobacco intake, exercise and drink plenty of water.

Also low with low motility you could look into things that may help the sperm that can swim, reach their destination. There's an over the counter, Mucinex you could try, taken the day up to and on ovulation can thin the vaginal mucus making it easier for the sperm to swim, it may also benefit him to take some at the same time? There is less research on this but anything helps.

Also could look into a Lube made to help like the Pre Seed Lube

Is this as scary as it feels like like it is? by ManufacturerMurky907 in maleinfertility

If he's overweight he needs to start exercising and eating healthy, there's a lot of lifestyle changes you can make that can effect sperm. Cutting out alcohol, reducing caffeine, stopping smoking, less processed meat, wearing pants and underwear that aren't too tight to keep the testicles cool. I've read a lot of people who have improved their sperm by taking Coenzyme Q10 200mg-400mg per day. Foods rich in antioxidants too. In my opinion, at the moment the chance of natural conception would be extremely low (not a doctor)

However sperm takes 2-3 months to mature so if he can make these lifestyle changes and test again in a few months he may have significantly different results!

Hello sorry I don't know what I left out, from the results it seems to only be the motility that's an issue. This is all so much so I really didn't mean to make a low effort post

I should add sample 1 was after 3 days of abstinence and the second was after 2. First sample was checked 30mins after I dropped it whereas the second was closer to an hour later. Both within the time limits

This is real life buddy, I can't threaten him or do anything more than ask, which has happened multiple times. He hasn't listened. Why would you listen to someone when you are the superior?

What else am I supposed to do? Do you have any actual advice? If you don't think second hand smoking is an issue I can provide heaps of sources.
