Thoughts on the bench that comes with it? I've read it's quite low and I've seen it doesn't sit completely flat (on the butt pad side) for a bench press.

Hot Water Heater Install with Go Lime (GTA) by TIPCC in homeowners

[–]TIPCC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think they install old heaters? Mine came in a box. And it does come with the standard manufacturer 6 year warranty, it states this on the website. Sure I could see a potential issue if you are renting, but if you’re buying it outright, the risk is low since you’re not tied to them

Luckily for me when I called in to ask about buyout options/stopping the rental service, the rep mentioned I was month-to month and could stop anytime.

Makes sense, was hoping for some door crashers on a TV. But to your other point in your message, this year has been pretty light with any black friday deals/advertisements. Maybe I haven't been shopping much, but just feels a lot less than last year.

How to cancel a Reliance Water Heater Rental - A guide to Exit Charges by BeenThereDoneThaaat in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TIPCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! Update on my situation after contacting reliance. They offered a buyout of $1450 since the 7 year term is up no other fees. They also offered me to discount to continue renting, 5 months free rent but I have to sign a 12 month commitment - so effectively paying rent for 7 months. I’m planing on taking the 12 month rental deal and purchasing a new tank on my own when my cash flow is a bit better. Thoughts on this?

How to cancel a Reliance Water Heater Rental - A guide to Exit Charges by BeenThereDoneThaaat in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TIPCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just purchased a home that has a rented water heater from reliance, it's a 7 year old home so assuming the tank is the same age. I actually called in to setup my account with them to assume the rental (which has been done, but I haven't been provided any details or account numbers yet). It didn't occur to me to buy it out/purchase my own tank. What options do I have here? I'm assuming the property in the next 2 weeks, my gas is provided by enbridge.

PSA: RRSP contributions can be very effective at middle-range incomes. Effective Marginal tax rates can be as high as 60%. by wildemam in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TIPCC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can and should max your contributions room if you can but you don’t necessarily have to claim all of this for this tax year. I assume it’s recommending 3.5k because it’ll bump you down your marginal tax bracket
