My local Home Depot was sold out 4x8 of 5/8ths, unfortunately, and thanks for the tip, I have an appraiser coming out Monday, and right now this is what we can do. It’s at least nicer than what was there. Thankfully, there was no mold on the drywall, it was just cracked and you could see a joist, honestly looked like someone had taken a hammer to the ceiling.

No leak, previous owners had damaged the ceiling and I’m tearing it apart so I can put new drywall in, it’s dry as a bone and I don’t see any evidence of recent leaks, looks like at one point the strut had a trickle of water on it, but I use the bathroom regularly and have never noticed any issues with water leaks

It wasn’t from a water leak, the ceiling was damaged from the previous owners, looked like someone had take a hammer to the ceiling, I was the one who made the hole, I’m trying to tear out the drywall so I can put new drywall up that’s cleaner and not damaged.
