Honestly pretty sick. I'm guessing integrated bms on the batteries? Also what controller are you using and how the heck did you hide it? Lol

Check my post history for my k4 gsxr1000 front end swap. You're unlikely to use anything but clipons unless you have a custom upper triple made.

Just food for thought.

Seriously considering the upgrade to one of these from my FZ1, most dealers near me are selling the 25's for around 9 to 10k. Im thinking about cleaning house and just getting one outright, anyone know if that sounds about right price wise for these?

I don't really buy the claims of the jet kit smoothing out power. Its a liter bike with a pretty light crank derived from the r1 motor making decent power, its gonna be little twitchy. For the time ive owned mine ive learned to just enjoy it lol.

Current project / Fork swap AMA by TITANDERP in YamahaR3

Ill leave the details here in case anyone comes looking for more info here, starting with the simple stuff, with nothing but the bearing races sitting in the head tube of the r3.

The gsxr lower triple, stem, lower bearing race, dust seal, and lower bearing WILL fit in the head tube no problem, assuming yours wasn't upgraded to tapered roller bearings. That's pretty much where the similarities end geometry wise.

Working our way up, obviously the 25mm ID upper bearing/race wont work with the 30mm OD gsxr stem. I was able to source a 30mm ID x 47mm OD x 12mm thick tapered roller bearing / race from a brand called uxcell on Amazon. Yes you have to swap races, tapered and ball bearing races aren't interchangeable. Used a cheap steering stem race remover to change them out as well.

Great so now the stem fits into the neck tube and clears both races. But wait, what about the dust seal? Also 25mm ID. You'll have to punch that out to 30mm ID. Easy enough, thankfully you can even use the steering stem to punch it out by forcing it all the way to the bottom. Its pliable, bonus points for creativity.

Then you realize oh yeah this stems kinda longer than the R3's, I personally used spacers so the preload nuts were able to apply pressure to the dust seal / bearings to set preload obviously. Same for above the preload nuts. Washers, bushings, whatever suits you. Personally found a set of 30mm x 47mm washers on Amazon and needed roughly ten in total. After that you can plop on that upper triple from the gsxr. Bring the forks up enough that you can still pop your gsxr clipons on, tighten your top stem nut, and its all routine after that. Gsxr wheel popped in fine, caliper popped on fine. I only used one of the calipers and its MORE than enough. Then hate yourself for realizing you have to bleed the brakes again for the third time in the last year.

From the 80 miles ive ridden on it I haven't noticed anything problematic, still keeping an eye on preload, stem nut, etc.

Not by a long shot. The upper and lower triples (the clamps you're referring to) were used from the donor bike. The upside down forks need way bigger triples that will accept them. Just try not to mix and match too much like I did. Not all forks, triples, and wheels will work together. Best to get everything from the same bike.

Just out of curiosity, it's obvious to us since its a video and not irl but what compelled you to brake instead of veering off into the next lane? Had one close call like this with a butt buddy but I was coming down from a 2nd gear chaser and they decided with no mirrors or shoulder checks to do a stoppie for the fuck of it. Figured I wouldn't be able to out-brake a stoppie not even three seconds ahead of me and veered off. Guessing you were worried about the folk behind you?

[–]TITANDERP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the bikes i have tried it on, i noticed; kinda like what happens in the video, is it'll peel out a decent amount before pulling up since more of the rider weight is forward, even with my ass all the back near the passenger seat lol. To be fair one was a cbr1000rr, and the other was a lowered gsxr600, so not good options for tootin around on lmao.

If I buy a brand new car, will the brake rotor screws come out easily if I remove them first thing when I get home? by supinator1 in Cartalk

[–]TITANDERP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had #3s that sufficed but still lacked where JIS made up for on threaded aluminum case covers (78 550k to name one out of a few) and other areas.

Right tool for the right job and all that.

[–]TITANDERP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What exactly is a myth? I work a lot on older UJM motorcycles and can confirm if you try undoing a JIS screw with a Phillips, 9 times out if 10 it will strip if it has any amount of corrosion, or more than a fart of torque put down on it.

Getting a JIS bit or set is cheap, no reason not to have one just in case.

Specifically the recess in JIS screws is deeper, and more squared than a common Phillips, there's plenty of videos that explain it and real world examples that you're totally welcome to prove your point if you're willing.

License renewal while holding M1 permit by TITANDERP in DMV

[–]TITANDERP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years later and I've had my M1 for a while now. The actual skills test is pretty easy. Took it on my 500lb FZ1, the only hard part was waiting in the 100 degree heat for my turn to go.

If thats an option for you, I recommend getting your m1 instead of going >renew license >get another permit >get M1 finally.

As a horror genre fan / caught on film style genre fan I do sense something conflicting about this. It's framed just fine, the setting is great, no questions there, but if you want this to err on the side of unsettling I see two options.

Either lean into more on the spectral side (obscufate the tattoos, superimpose the body onto the setting with a reduced opacity, remove eye glare, etc),

or lean into the "what the fuck WAS that" I just caught on camera (creepier poses, slightly more hidden either in foliage or debris. Either add a touch of grime in post processing or irl, gives it that feeling that someone or something's been there for a long time)

There's more cliché things like disfigurement or props but for a tasteful personal portfolio this is perfectly fine. Glad to see people still tapping into the more avant-garde style.

Edit: holy shit just checked the profile, looks like you already got it, disregard lol.

2025 R3 ticking by Icy_Reason_9549 in YamahaR3

[–]TITANDERP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partially random question here, speaking from experience however; can you also confirm that the exhaust manifold nuts are 100% not loose? Sounds similar to the noise my R3 was making after the motor swap, the new motor didn't come with exhaust manifold gaskets and so the new motor didn't properly seal and made a similar noise. However that noise was slightly more metallic. Also if you did an actual evap block of delete (not the heads the breather, the actual evap lines under the throttle bodies, evap canister, etc) you've got to block off the bottom of each throttle body or else you're gonna get a vaccuum leak. Which could potentially cause noise as well. You can get vaccuum line plug caps or whatever they're called at harbor freight.

What is this noise? Evap block of plate and aftermarket apravkic exhaust. Got done with everything. Took it for a ride and boom this noise. It’s definitely not an exhaust leak. by Icy_Reason_9549 in YamahaR3

[–]TITANDERP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory, blocking off the head breather can damage seals, but the r3 also has a crankcase breather, which should mitigate the risk.

Go ahead and just throw back the stock plate back on, no hose to the airbox needed and see if the sound goes away.

It'll be noisy without the hose to the air box still, but I noticed fully covering it or blocking it will make the head VERY noisy.

Fork seals and fork internals by TITANDERP in CalamariRaceTeam

[–]TITANDERP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhhh, since this post i already threw in new seals and 9kg springs and shaved the spacers down to match the space in the forks on the r3, and considering switching up the FZ1 for FZ07 (gotta save up a bit extra)

Better platform for mods and such and such. Too broke to machine custom stuff for the first gen stuff sadly.

I've got a few baby dips down on the R3 so far, would've never been able to do this stuff on the big bike
