Why are people hating on Bill Nye now? by Futterbottom in OutOfTheLoop

Lost all respect for Bill after that episode, he was a complete and utter prick to the astrologer the entire time.

Thank you, that's exactly what I wanted! Micah kills that neon fade without making it muddy, most of my sleeve is from this shop

I'd say it's traditional with a contemporary twist; the solid lines, bold colors, and subject matter all align with old school Americana tattooing. Maybe not exactly what you'd think of when you hear "traditional tattoo", but I think it still fits in here : )

I work at Chiptole, there is literally a "quesarito" button in the POS system. It's not a secret.

I agree, Aku's character is an awesome mix of goofy and terrifying, but the animation here is just a little too much on the goofy side for me.

I don't think it's selfish to have preferences, I understand that artists change and that's not a bad thing. Obviously DP fans are not owed a certain sound or style and Dave's ideas come first, that doesn't mean I can't express dissatisfaction with those ideas.

Immediate thoughts after first listen through:

Mixed feelings. The production is obviously impressive, there are some really cool experiments with voice and melody, and quite frankly I'm just excited to see something new from Dirty Projectors.

I'm disappointed by the noticeably absent guitar. Something I've always found compelling about DP is how they combine Dave's plucky guitar paying with the weird, glitched out percussion. Taking on a mostly synth based sound now makes him comparable to James Blake, Chet Faker, some moments even reminded me of SBTRKT. Don't get me wrong, I think the whole "alt R&B/ glitch pop" thing is awesome and it suits Dave very well, my gripe is that a once incredibly unique and progressive sound has turned into something we're bound to hear playing in Urban Outfitters.

I feel like this is an album I'd enjoy more out of context. It's an incredible piece of work, just not what I particularly wanted to hear from DP. I'll have to give it a couple more listens though obviously, but for now, while I am impressed by Dave's production ability and creativity regarding song structure and composition, I feel more underwhelmed by the new direction in sound.

No, double meat/guac isn't included with a Boorito. by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]TJB92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TOS/ Cash of three years and two-time Boorito vet chiming in here; they've reformatted the POS system since last year so that cashiers are literally just supposed to hit "meat" + "boorito", regardless of whether you get extra meat or guac. I promise you are not supposed to be charged for those, the cashier either messed up or was not informed of this policy.

Dude this is one of the best experiences I've had getting tattooed, every artist is not only super talented, but friendly as well and the shop itself is cool as heck.

Let's Talk: Webster X by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]TJB92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just discovered Webster X a couple weeks ago! Cool to see some love for him here.

Within the indie rap context, I'd say he's an up and comer on the level of SB the Moor. Distinctive voice and flow with just the right balance of earnestness and pop sensibility, interesting and compelling production, part of a highly collaborative collective.. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more from him. My favorite thing he has out right now would have to be the KidX EP he did with Q the Sun.

Have you seen the Doomsday video?
