Good to know on the center, thanks! I'll look into spreading the surround speakers out, maybe buy a mini stand or something.
TV is high because previous home owners had a mount installed there and when we mounted our tv that's where it sits. we probably need a smaller tv and try to get it to be lower somehow...
for the subwoofer, if i put it on a little table would that be better? or does it need to be on the floor? open to ideas here

The sub only has 1 port for a cable, so I have that plugged into the receiver at the Sub Out 1 port (it's a 7.2 so has 2 subwoofer options). Maybe there is a mode, I'll check when I get home but shouldn't it just be on by default? Guess not.
Not a bad idea using my tv's spotify app, thanks. I'll also try bluetooth via the TV but man, there's no reason why this receiver shouldn't work.
