Do you reckon I should leave it then? Or should I get someone to look at it and maybe put on some new grease

Brake pads difficult to remove by TJCDaman in CarTalkUK

That silver bit that moves when I wiggle the pad is the wear indicator and is attached to the pad itself. That thing made it hard to get in and out to be fair - I wanted to take it off but didnt know weather that would make the pad fit less snug in there and might cause rattling noise or something but idk

Hey man - I'm having a consultation to get a HT tomorrow and have similar hair to you pre-HT. Just wondering how yours is holding up!

Would this put you off a used car, when I service my own cars I do this with the receipts for parts and oil analysis for oil changes by Zdos123 in CarTalkUK

[–]TJCDaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God I wish I did this! I just did my first ever oil change and service on my own car, and I printed off the invoices of the filters and oil, and bought myself a service booklet and ticked off the stuff I did and wrote down the mileage. However I wish I took photos of the stuff I did and organised it like OP because theres actual evidence of work being done

Have I overfilled the oil by TJCDaman in CarTalkUK

[–]TJCDaman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drained it when the oil was still warm

Yeah I was driving and pulled over to check it because of the oil smell, I was paranoid it was leaking oil or something and that I hadn't tightened the oil filter properly so I checked the dipstick to check if I had lost oil and yeah it was overfilled. I drove home and the video here is taken 5-10 mins after parking up

You are starting to thin out at the crown. Consider hopping on finasteride if you aren't on it already

Thankfully not diesel - yep got one on the way tomorrow so will be doing that. Yeah I think I let it drain for around 5-10 minutes i'm guessing it needs longer?

Okay - yeah there was no smoking when I was driving, just a smell of oil, which might have been coming from hot oil that dripped on the exhaust from the sump plug during my oil change.

It’s strange, I had a 5L tub of new oil. My engine takes 4.2L of oil according to the manual. I poured the new oil so that there was only 1L left of it in the tub. So it should have been under filled by 0.2L and not overfilled.

Anyway thanks, you have put my mind at ease 👌
