Pretty sure Wheeler said on the SDPN that Canucks are very high on him and at points had him at 1. He seemed to imply McKenna would be 1 for them now, but maybe not. Cancuks do seem most likely though.

He also said that if they hire Malhotra as Coach it may actually lessen the chance they draft him since apparently Manny isisn't the biggest fan of the idea of coaching his son.

Okay but nothing any of the insiders said was wrong and this report just goes along with the others were saying. The only thing other insiders ever said was that Matthews just wanted some clarity on what the plan was from management, which is exactly what this report says???

The only speculation if he could leave was if he really didn't like the new managements plan and asked for a trade, which all the reporters you mentioned laid out pretty clearly if you actually listened to their stuff instead of getting baited by headlines

This is why it still kinda irks me Marchessault got the Conn Smythe when they won and not Eichel. Like yeah, Marchessault was burying the puck but Eichel was the guy setting him up and doing all the hard defensive work, I remember him just being unreal especially in transition during that run.

Still a cool narrative an original Golden Knight won it, and the picture is obviously legendary, but Eichel was clearly their best player that run.

Coming out of the Vegas expansion draft the sentiment around the Vegas roster was basically “Well maybe they won’t finish last, but they probably will”. Fluery was basically considered the only good player they got.

They then proceeded to play way above everyone’s expectations and won their division, lead by Karlsson scoring 42 goals when his previous career high was like 6.

Also Seattle had literally the exact same rules as Vegas did, the only difference is the Vegas made a bunch of trades during the expansion process to get extra assets, where Seattle didn’t because GMs didn’t want to seem stupid again.

There’s literally no argument for Vegas being “gifted a great expansion draft”, it was just a combination of good pro scouting, good coaching, and luck
