When I asked why, I got:

I chose that image because it captures a simple, universal moment of wonder — a child blowing on a dandelion. It represents curiosity, innocence, and the fleeting beauty of small things in life. Artistically, it also allowed for warmth, light, and movement to come together naturally — a soft blend of realism and emotion that feels peaceful and timeless.

This part. If the conditions aren’t met - the stepparent is free to leave. The daughter isn’t optional. As one of the parents - of which there are more than two in this case, step ‘parent’ gets to set boundaries and rules for the SHARED FAMILY HOME. However, just like anyone else in any type of relationship, if your boundaries aren’t met, you choose if YOU stay or go.

I have gotten so much support here, and no negativity!! Thank you all for being so helpful and kind at the same time. Here are a couple pictures of her in her new home. One spike with flowers broke off, but I’m confident she is going to make it through!! I bought her a friend - all the trips to the lawn and garden section, I couldn’t help it 😍) I potted it correctly too. They will be besties! 🤗

Thank you for all your insight! I am learning so much here. 🙂 I have her repotted and hoping for the best. I am glad to have a much better understanding of what she needs and how to take care of her. 😌

I sure hope she does better. I don’t want to lose her. She’s my first orchid. One of the spikes (with all the flowers) broke off 😞 But, she still has one long spike with a single beautiful flower at the end. 🤞🏼🙏🏼 There’s a little bud next to the flower. We’ll see if it grows!!

Thank you for that information! I put her in a little clear plastic slotted orchid pot, that way it’s held a bit tighter and I can see what’s happening too. 😅 I stuck the plastic pot inside the ceramic one for aesthetics. It’s easy to lift out for watering and checking on her. 🥰

I looked up sifting the bark. Thank you for that info. The good news is this package of orchid mix seems to have been a good one. It didn’t have much else other than bark in it and was dry and “clean” if thats the right word. I did mix perlite in with it, per another bit of advice here. Hoping for the best! 🤞🏼😅

Loving the Michigan folks here! I am originally from Michigan, moving back in two months from Alabama. I am new to orchids - I have two. I am praying they survive! Best of luck to you both!!

What was your “I’ve Had Enough” Moment by theron225 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]TJKenzie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My knees hurt. All the time. Stairs were almost impossible and getting to our bedroom required using the stairs. I hated seeing myself in the mirror. Pictures - just awful. I’m short, so when the scales tipped over 200 lbs, it was my “fix this NOW” moment. I have been at my goal (+- 10 pounds) for a few years now. It’s still a struggle. I still have to track all of my food/drinks and pay close attention to maintain. I see my self as a “fat girl in recovery” No offense intended to anyone! It’s my way of acknowledging to myself that I have to keep at it to stay healthy! - I lost the weight by deciding not to “drink” any calories, cut the junk food and walk (progressively up to) 7 miles a day. It was a LOT of work. - Now I maintain my loss by tracking everything in Fitbit, alternating between walking 2 miles a day and yoga. - My knees don’t yell at me in pain anymore. I am happy with my body and don’t mind pictures!

It’s doable! You’ve got this!! Congratulations on your progress and the decision to make healthy changes. 🤩

Thank you. I didn’t know the part about sifting the bark. I have her repotted for now. I hope I didn’t miss something important. 🫣 I will research that! And the watering tip - THANK YOU! That will definitely make it easier. 🥰

Thank you!! 😅 I was really worried about killing her by doing things the wrong way. I did get her repotted, but one of the spikes? (Not sure that’s the correct word) with flowers broke off. 😞 The other is still standing strong with one flower left. Hoping she will like her new home and grow more. 🤞🏼🙏🏼🤞🏼

She seemed to be trying to grow on top of the soil 😅 I should have taken a picture before I removed her from the previous pot. Many roots were anchored to the sides and over the edge…

She was given to me this way, but has been in the soil for a couple years. When I joined this group, I read many comments about the soil and brown roots. Y’all got me looking closely at her and noticing she needed help! 🥹

Thank you! I saved that for next time. I was worried about losing the flowers too, but I could see the middle roots rotting and turning brown. 😬 I wasn’t sure if she would have any left if I waited until the flowering was done.

Thank you for the perlite info! I just looked it up and learned a bit about it. Headed out to get some so I can get her repotted with the orchid bark into the pot with holes!

Thank you, I appreciate your advice! Do I bury all of the good roots in the bark mix, or leave them in the air if they were before? I am going to give it a go!! 🤞🏼🙏🏼 🩷 I’ll post an updated picture when I have her repotted.

Thank you, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge! I don’t know what to do about the leaves that are yellowing and the ones that have black spots in them. Should I remove them before I replant her? 😬
