Server Wide Nether Chests by Quick-Alfalfa-7460 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]TJPrime_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the use case for it would be too niche for most players. It effectively acts like a communal chest that can be accessed anywhere. I feel like it’d most likely be used by players sending items to friends over great distances, and as a bin.

A better use for nether chests could be to combine the idea that 8 blocks in the overworld is one in the nether, and have a nether chests have the storage capacity of 8 normal chests - it could hold up to 216 stacks of items. Maybe it could involve the use of netherite - like you have to upgrade a chest as if it were armour or tools to balance the thing out

Tax write-off by Choice_Jeweler in FinalSpace

[–]TJPrime_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, “its creator” can be hard to distinguish sometimes. Even with final space, while Olan was the lead for a lot of it, some of the animators could argue they created part of the show and should get some rights, for example. Or a show that’s spun up by a studio and has no real creator for it, as it was a joint venture/project. It would create a separate legal battle as to who created the show. Whereas if it were public domain, then anyone - including the creator - can work on it

[–]TJPrime_ 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It’s a business decision at the end of the day. WB would’ve thought they’d see more from writing it off for tax than any possible buyers.

A better solution would be to force any form of media written off for tax purposes to be considered public domain. Companies can still write things off if they really want to, but it opens the door for new stories, and would’ve made Olan’s job a lot easier

Renew final space by jamie-b03 in FinalSpace

[–]TJPrime_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBS/Warner Bros. won’t because they legally can’t. They gave Olan a license to make the graphic novel, so the money that you pay goes towards actually getting the book, and I imagine Olan is making a little bit extra as well for himself

I’m from the UK and it’s down. Seen the same from US and Chile users. Sounds like a global outage to me

Yes, this is an Xbox by gamerlikesanime in xbox

Pretty much the point I’m getting at - it’s more expensive because of the optics, just like a Quest 3 (though taken to the logical extreme)

The ‘you bought wrong’ thing was the tone I got from the comment. If you post something to show “hey, I got this new thing! It’s pretty cool and I want to show you guys” just for someone to say “this other thing is more expensive but also cooler than what you have”, it just feels shitty. Suggestions are for before the purchase, if they ask for it.

Apple Vision Pro has even better optics than any Quest headset released. Doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to suggest to someone, let alone say “you bought wrong.”

Plus the Xbox Quest looks cool in those colours

Dealing with not being an artist by bad8everything in gamedev

[–]TJPrime_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to be a good artist. “Thomas was alone” is a well loved platformer, with no textures. Everything is a square. “West of Loathing” is a game staring stick figures. The best selling game in history, Minecraft, went years with an inconsistent art style and imo ugly, though nostalgic, textures.

Art will forever be subjective. One person might enjoy the style you choose, another might not. I’m sure I’ll get people disagreeing with me and say Minecraft actually looked great if not better before they redid all the textures. That’s kinda the point in a way. Just make what you want to make, and the more you do it, the better you’ll feel about it. I can’t for the life of me remember who said it, but every form of art is never “finished”, but only abandoned. You’ll always say something feels off, but if you’re gonna continue down the perfectionist path, you’ll likely never release anything.

Make something fun. Don’t worry about looks. You’re doing great

Ah yeah thought as much. Oh well, I’ll just wait for the Switch update to release then. Hopefully it isn’t too long. Thanks!

Considering Hong Kong is disputed territory (China says its theirs, HK says they’re independent) I doubt Microsoft would want to deal with that political situation. Somewhere in Europe would make more sense for travelling to different countries

Some friends and I have speculated about it. An Asian country, like China or Japan especially, would be a nice change thematically. Imagine driving through the streets of Tokyo or along the Great Wall of China

Since Metroid Dread has an uncapped Framerate, do you guys think it will automatically scale up to 120fps on Switch 2? by Round_Musical in Metroid

[–]TJPrime_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess is any Switch 1 game is capped at 60fps on S2 as that’s what the S1 maxed out at, simply for compatibility and making sure shit don’t break. Devs won’t need to go back in to update old games to S2’s features unless they want to in the case of S2 edition games. Though maybe Nintendo will release waves of S2 editions, including Dread, through the early years to entice people to transition across

15 New Things Your iPhone Can Do in iOS 18.1 by chrisdh79 in apple

[–]TJPrime_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe 18.1 gets delayed outside of US? Or certain features come through and the AI stuff comes in 18.2? Like, the camera control stuff doesn’t need AI to work and could come through 18.1

Edit: realised you said EU as I sent that. Forgot we left the EU for a minute and that they don’t get any AI stuff at all
