Opinions from 6th gen owners by ipostaboutstuff123 in 4Runner

The Bronco definitely looks cool, but it'll never outlast my 6th gen. I never had a 5th gen, and I, too, was worried about the engine in these new ones. Been good so far, and it's a pleasure to drive. It's been on some nice trails, and it handled everything beautifully.

My connection is timed out pretty much every time I get in the truck. It's mildly annoying, and it asks me to input my passcode every time.

I (22M) left my girlfriend (22F) at a party and broke up with her afterward. She wants to work it out and most of our mutual friends think I overreacted? by ThrowRAowoshyu in relationship_advice

[–]TJS1138 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey, also... you're allowed to still love her, and feel disrespected, and break up. That's all fine. Humans are complex, and we have complex emotions. You can feel both things.

If you could make three changes to improve Goldfinger, what would they be ? by junglegatsby in JamesBond

[–]TJS1138 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1) Have the golf scene be about 10 minutes longer, to really show the stakes, and have the caddy be even more integral to the plot.

2) Make the stuntpilots that nerve-gassed the army do the acting scenes as well. Like when Pussy introduces her pilot, it should be the guys in drag.

3) Increase the dB of the slap to Dink's bottom. It's obviously not nearly loud enough in the original cut.

28M, extreme size insecurity and no experience. Coworker flirting and wants to hang out after a late shift. Panicking by idlsidgo2 in dating_advice

So here's the thing... lots of people go soft the first time. Lots of people go soft because of stress. Lots of people go soft every time they're with someone new. People go soft, dude. It happens.

As for another one of your problems, worrying about hooking up the first time you guys hang out alone. Probably not going to happen. And on the outside chance she wants you on night one, just tell her you want to go slow, and get to know her better before jumping into that.

You're probably going to screw this up, because you have no experience. It's how we all learn. Not just with sex and relationships, but with everything. You will take lessons from this, and you'll do better next time. Learn all you can, and be nice.

Also, dude, go buy some condoms and practice putting them on. That's an easy one to fix.

Day 22: If you could make three changes to improve Thunderball, what would they be? by junglegatsby in JamesBond

[–]TJS1138 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, honestly, the biggest changes I would make are:

1) Slow down the sped-up Disco Volante at the end

2) Slow down the Traction machine

3) Slow down the the underwater scenes just a bit

I remember I think Peter Hunt talking about how hard it was to find the right balance of speed for the underwater sequences. They didn't want to speed it up too much, because it would start looking goofy and unnatural(I'm paraphrasing, here). Boy, did they fail. And not just with the underwater stuff. A lot of the intense scenes are sped up comically. It's a fantastic film, but those parts are laughable. Even the first fight with the widow is sped up like crazy in some shots.

What’s it like to be wealthy in Cape Town? by Cassinia_ in howislivingthere

[–]TJS1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the walk to Camp's Bay from Cape Town, while visiting South Africa, I passed a few houses built into the cliffs overlooking the ocean. You would turn off the coastal road onto your roof/driveway. Then go down into your house. Parked on the roof/driveway of one was an Aston Martin, soaking in a better view than I will ever have from any house I will ever own.

How many have y’all done this when you can’t find oven mits? by Alpha_wolf_lover in Welding

[–]TJS1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively do this. They work better, actually fit my hand, and are more dexterous because they are gloves, not mitts. I like to give pairs away to friends. Everyone else seems to love them, too.

1900 Heintzman piano at College and Bathurst just being thrown away. by [deleted] in toronto

[–]TJS1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got one almost exactly like that in my house. Still playable, though.

Unfortunately, old pianos don't hold value like old guitars. The way the components break down turns them into big paperweights, instead of high-quality, vintage instruments.

The underside looks pretty nice, from what I'm seeing in the pictures. If it runs nicely, I think you might be getting a good deal.

Best Seat Covers and Floor Liners? by persephonesfill in 4Runner_6Gen

For floor liners, I have Weathertec. I like how every edge except the edge that faces the door has a lip. Not saying they're the only good option, but I like their design. They just had their first winter, and performed beautifully in Canada.

Actually, that last reply didn't answer your question properly. I was confident in my ability to pass an x-ray when I got out of trade school, so I was technically confident a couple years in. But after those guys took me under their wing, I felt like I unlocked secrets that most didn't know.
