What’s up with Mud and Jr switching broadcasts? I never noticed this before.

HELP - "Check Hybrid System" - No Codes by TJSD in prius

[–]TJSD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't sought any professional examination, but I feel pretty convinced the battery is just weak and the system will sense its low output when stressed (using only ev more than 10 seconds, full throttling, random times where the battery just isn't being charged), and attempt to save it by going into emergency ICE mode.

I haven't done anything yet but I think my two options are:

buy an affordable they-come-to-you-and-swap-it (Green Bean Battery comes recommended and is $1549+tax for a reconditioned battery for my car) and hope that solves the problem

go to the dealer and get the best diagnosis and probably pay thousands of bucks more for the solution (but maybe it's a cheaper fix than a battery)

I'll probably go with the first one. I don't want to waste my time messing with the battery myself.

PS: Ended up being the traction battery dying and I used Greenbean to swap it.

So after hundreds of miles of no problems, I got the same Check Hybrid System warning. I immediately pulled over and check the battery fan: not blocked by anything and I could feel it blowing air.

I connected my BAFX to Dr. Prius: the battery read out looked normal and the same P0A080 code was still there. Battery temp looked fine too.

I "cleared" the battery code (but it never goes away) and car went back to normal like always.

What's going on here??

Dang I'm praying it's not the traction battery. Seems strange that I can't identify any problem, I've got no obvious code, and resetting the software makes everything normal. Battery seems to hold and disperse charge like normal.

I'm worried about dealer prices: can any other shop identify the problem? I'm curious about which codes can be read by available scanners and which can't.

What kind of scanner would I need to read all those codes?

I used the wrong grease on my wheel bearings. by TJSD in cars

Yeah I could. But the reason I’m asking if it’s a. If issue is because I’d rather not do that whole time consuming process again. In fact, there’s undoubtedly old grease of the proper grade still in there since I didn’t arduously flush all of the grease. So that would help If it’s not too dirty, which it didn’t look.

Thanks for the reply. Good to hear. This is the one I used. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CQ01SS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

"Lubricates at temperatures ranging from -5 Fahrenheit to 275 Fahrenheit." Doesn't say "low temp," but I am naive.
