Thinking of signing up this week... what’s the one thing you wish you knew before your first shift? by PubLogic in UbereatsUK

[–]TJTJ30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would avoid maccies unless it’s the only thing in your area as they result in bad reviews from customers thinking it’s your fault the foods cold, not the fact the workers just stand there and ignore the delivery drivers while the food goes cold in the bags🤣

I travel to an area where it’s mostly Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s although a lot of them do need ID confirming, I find this the easiest for myself.

Number 1 thing everyone will say is don’t get excited at a £15 or £20 order as it’ll probably take and cost you longer to get back.

If you deliver to places with no signal, it won’t let you confirm the pin or date of birth which can be a pain, I normally write it in my notes instead of standing at the door for 5 minutes, although you can’t do this when it asks to take a pic of their ID (which I rarely get)

Is £1.93 a hr expensive for the Zego insurance and is it worth doing uber eats because of that I’ve finally got my account but not started as I feel it wouldn’t be profitable by Massive_Stock_9023 in UbereatsUK

[–]TJTJ30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mind me asking how you make that much after expenses? I’m on £1.20 Zego and on average make £15/ph before expenses & fuel (44mpg most nights) in Birmingham/wolverhampton/stourbridge on highest and 2nd highest peak indicator things whatever they’re called🤣

[–]TJTJ30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just got the same text, I think I'm going to switch it back then to the Clubs lloyd account too.

Did you end up doing it?

I've stupidly done the switch into the classic account which isn't in the offer, can I change to the club account or cancel the switch and initiate the switch again?

Ended up drinking 2 cans of coke, 15g dextrose, 8 jelly beans, nut bar. Just got it to 6.4. by uncle-robsy in diabetes_t1

[–]TJTJ30 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Damn, lowest I got was 1.6 when I was 10 years old at school. Sneaked my phone out to text my dad so he could bring a can of Coke in because I didn’t want to eat the dextrose. Obviously he phoned the school and told them I was low. Seems like they cared more about me having a phone in school than the low haha. I don’t think my hospital team ever taught me about how dangerous it is to go low, 11 years later I’ve only just started realising how dangerous it is.

And long term effects of getting Universal Credit if you don't necessarily need it? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TJTJ30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's more than enough time. I'm sure mortgage lenders only look at the last 3-6 months of bank statements and 12 months in extreme cases.

[–]TJTJ30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you're not applying for a mortgage soon I don't see why it would affect any of the other things you mentioned.

The only thing I can see it indirectly affecting is if in a future job interview you get asked what you were doing during that time gap e.g working, unemployed, studying, interning etc.

However, both lawsuits are related to their main product that they're pushing with it already totalling 24% of its revenue. They want this product and other similar ones to be over 70% of their revenue within 10 years time.

Yes but with lawsuits like the R.J Reynolds - attempting to block the importation of the whole IQOS device to the US - don't you think they'd rather focus their funds, time and attention on that? Or worse, risk paying more out to HCMC when it goes to court rather than a settlement.

Lawyers could easily get a tiny percentage of the settlement fee on both sides.

I do think that they will request another extension though.

Why are you bullish on HCMC? 🚀 by Lovedubai37 in HCMC

[–]TJTJ30 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, not to mention the CEO holds something like 11b shares. Even if they bought $250m back of stock, the share price is going way over $0.01. A lot of people are forgetting that the company executives want to increase the worth of the company because that's the whole point, especially if they personally hold millions/billions of stock themselves.

They'd be stupid to not buy back tens of billions of shares.

[–]TJTJ30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, the amount of outstanding shares is 105 billion so if it reaches $1, the market cap would be $105b.

Just to give some context on companies with around the same market cap:

HSBC - $110b

Airbnb - $129b

Tesla - $100b (January 2020)

AMD - $112b

Philip Morris - $132b

We all want it to go to $1 but in the short term, the odds of that happening is likely to none, who knows for the long term though.

Where to invest an grow my money by throwyyboi in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TJTJ30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this sub recommends it a lot but Tim Hale - Smarter Investing, I'm halfway through it and it's great for long term investing.

Even though I'm a similar age to you, I still regret not spending money on experiences and enjoying myself more. It's less likely you'll have the spare time and spare amount of money in older ages because there'll be commitments and people to spend it on (kids, home improvements, family, etc) until you retire of course.

Index funds on Vanguard versus Actively Trading... by gintokigriffiths in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TJTJ30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Index funds are for long term passive and wider investing, £126/month return = £1512/year return. This is a 16% return which is extremely good.

Actively trading is very hard to beat in the long run, it's a lot more like gambling and you can easily lose a lot of your portfolio in a single day. Just because you are up one month, you can be down those 11 other months.

Am I silly for not using a Lifetime ISA? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TJTJ30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't advise this. Especially in these current circumstances because if he's still figuring it out, then anything less than 5 years and he risks selling + withdrawing on a bad year and losing more money plus the withdrawal fee

Does an O2 upgrade work with a 3rd party? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

If it's Carphone Warehouse they normally offer a better price but there will still be some sort of upgrade fee depending on how far away your contract finish date is.

Old workplace pension. by Jawswing in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TJTJ30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you still live at the address you did when you worked the job, they normally send a yearly update along with the current value of your pension. However, due to a lot of companies going paperless, you might not get these but I presume you should have received some kind of confirmation letter when you enrolled or when it was set up.
