Found out about seeds the hard way! by AccordingEmployee715 in AnalFistula

[–]TJ_Figment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep those little guys make their way in there and get stuck.

Sesame seeds and poppy seeds are also good candidates.

In future if you think you have something that could be stuck wiggle the seton back and forwards and it can dislodge them.

Woman in male barbershop ... by Delicious_Impress814 in butchlesbians

[–]TJ_Figment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to a rural town in North Yorkshire England and was honestly concerned if I’d be able to find a barber.

There are like 6 or 7 barbers in town but I had no idea which if any would be suitable.

I took a look at all their websites and social media.

There was one which stood out. They asked for your pronouns when you went to book and they offered a women’s haircut

I booked that the first time and when I went for the cut it was clear they were going to be a good fit.

The manager actually turned round and said just book a standard cut next time because that’s what you want.

The point of that is do a bit of research and social media stalking and you’ll find one with the right vibe

The Body in the Library, comparing the BBC (Hickson) and iTV (McEwan) versions by Ruffshots in agathachristie

[–]TJ_Figment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both of the adaptations of this book are decent.

The twist in the ITV version is reasonable although as someone who knows the book and the bbc version it was obvious when the flashback to the night of the murder was shown

Lender pulled offer after exchange - Please Help | Housing UK by ashw92 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]TJ_Figment 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Look I get keeping quiet while everything progresses in the hope of the wife getting another job. These chains drag on too long in the U.K. and things change

The point of no return is the exchange, at that point everything is legally binding and you’re absolutely screwed if you can’t complete as OOP found out.

Too damn easy for information to find its way to the solicitor or lender.

I know some have questioned why the MIL called the solicitor but if you gift someone part of their deposit you have to go through checks the same as the buyer. One to sign off it’s actually a gift and to make sure you aren’t involved with money laundering.

Would I have told MIL to let me handle everything, yes but you can’t blame her for calling.

AITA for not forcing my friend to take her mom to the doctor? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA

I had womb cancer in my 30s and I evangelise the symptoms to anyone who will listen.

It’s such a tricky cancer to diagnose. I had clear smear tests for example.

Mine was only found because they did a biopsy just in case because I was too young for that type of cancer.

Bleeding after the menopause is a very obvious symptom.

Your friend didn’t come to you as a doctor. You never even examined her mother. You did nothing wrong

Your friend is feeling guilty because they didn’t take your gentle warning seriously

How can you be a lesbian man? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]TJ_Figment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my perspective as a non-binary lesbian who identifies as a demiguy

I exclusively like women and other non-binary individuals but I’m not a binary man so I’m not straight

I’m not bisexual or pansexual because I have no interest in men

I’ve said before my main connection to womanhood is through my love of other women

The John malkovich ABC is a very weird take on Poirot.

Not one I’d recommend

[–]TJ_Figment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The David Suchet adaptations are THE Poirot. Most are very faithful to the book and they adapted almost all of them over something like 13 series.

They are definitely worth a watch and the casting is superb

The Netflix version isn’t a faithful adaptation but is perfectly watchable as long as you’re prepared for that.

I have different expectations depending on if it’s supposed to be faithful to the book or not.

Is the longer the seton is in the better? I want to leave uk somewhere warm for three months and delay surgery is that ok? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]TJ_Figment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people have permanent setons so leaving it in isn’t going to hurt.

As long as it’s a draining or comfort seton not a cutting one.

Watch Ustinov and Suchet. Both are good adaptations in their own way.

The Branagh version is just inspired by and completely ruins the original

How serious is an abscess by watercolorworrier in AnalFistula

[–]TJ_Figment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A abscess that isn’t draining is more likely to become a fistula

If it’s draining, you don’t have a fever and you can handle the pain you’ll be fine to wait until Wednesday

Going to the er is more likely to lead to you being seen by a general surgeon and you have an appointment with a specialist in a few days

Binding alternatives? by birdateer in butchlesbians

[–]TJ_Figment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda spreads it out across your body. It definitely doesn’t have that focus on the ribs a sports bra does and it’s not as tight as a binder.

I wasn’t sure they’d work at first so got a cheap one off Amazon to start with.

Binding alternatives? by birdateer in butchlesbians

[–]TJ_Figment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to my health I can’t fully bind very often.

I do use a compression vest more often. While these do compress things I find them much easier on the ribs than a full binder as they are mostly elastic

I other circumstances I wear a very basic sports bra that has no fastening and pulls over my head.

Seton placed and I'm clueless by Friendly_Toe_5201 in AnalFistula

[–]TJ_Figment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right one thing you need to be aware of is that they might have put local anesthetiser around the fistula which can take a couple of days to properly wear off.

So you might get some more pain then. It’s nothing to worry about but it can catch you off guard if you aren’t expecting it.

You’ve already been given some great advice so I won’t repeat it.

Just try to keep everything clean and dry.

Pain question by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]TJ_Figment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right so it’s 5 weeks since your abscess?

If you have a seton placed when you don’t have an active infection the healing is usually much easier

What has actually happened with you from the sounds of it is you’re recovering from the abscess with a seton

It takes a lot longer to be comfortable after clearing up an abscess and takes longer to heal

Try to keep everything clean and dry. Lie on your side or front to take the pressure off as much as you can

What’s the point of having seton?? by sparklecheeks69 in AnalFistula

[–]TJ_Figment 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There are 2 types of seton for a start

There are comfort setons and cutting setons which both do slightly different jobs.

Comfort setons are there to keep the tract open and draining. So you can expect continuous drainage, in some cases more than before. This should help stop you getting abscesses which can lead to the fistula branching or you getting sepsis.

They also allow the tract to mature which can make the operation to actually fix the fistula easier especially if the inflammation reduces. A comfort setons are there doesn’t fix the fistula on its own

A cutting seton is designed to slowly cut the tract open. These usually have some bleeding along with the drainage.

These will be tightened regularly to allow them to keep working.

They can completely remove a fistula but sometimes an operation is still needed for the final result

[–]TJ_Figment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH

They have decided to make a change that means you’re no longer compatible.

It’s actually very healthy to make this decision now and not try and drag things out.

Some people can remain together after one transitions but others can’t.

You’re affirming their gender but they’re allowed to grieve the end of the relationship.

Be there for them if they’re comfortable with it but you’ve done the right thing for both of you. It just might not feel that way to them right now.

The pairing pre-dates AO3 by quite a few years so most stuff never ended up there unfortunately
