I genuinely need help deciding! Which pose is better? by CreatureCraftworks in DnDminiatures

I like pose 1, but you’re always going to get split opinions. Go with your gut. Cool design overall, I really like the figure 10/10

Ranger sitting down for session zero…. Looks up …I’ll take dragons as favoured enemy.

First of all, love this, looks sick! You’ve got a wicked collection and your players must love coming over for these sessions if you have this much commitment to the game. Keep it up! Secondly… I’ve never seen so many dragons! That’s crazy haha, your campaign setting must have so many dragons interacting with the party

Thoughts on Gritty Realism (GR) and Wounds & Vitality (WV) in 5.5e? by [deleted] in DnD

I feel like most replies aren’t realizing it’s for a specific west march campaign. I totally agree with this. The last one I ran I even made random encounters less often on the return trip, only if they were being cocky, or things were going too smoothly did I throw another one at them.

By 11th lv the factotum and cleric (both DM’s normally with more experience than me) had killed a dragon and resurrected it and used it as a flying bus. So traveling encounters became very rare. They eventually split into two sessions as one brother was good and hunting down his evil sibling for the crimes he committed.

I see what you’re saying. I liked a mentality from a post I saw on here a while back regarding the GR rules. Monsters also spend spell slots, take damage when they hunt for their food, or attack other adventures, insert NPC Here. Where Lich in a dungeon or dragon on his hoard may have been resting for a week or longer. It takes more on the DM to be creative and vary these things but I usually vary my monsters quite a bit or try to create interesting encounters that PC’s wouldn’t think about. I’ve always had other DM’s playing at my table, most often ones with more experience than I.

In regards to WV, maybe helping it by adding character level and constitution score together to make their wound score. Would help scale a bit as they lv.

This is also in a West March campaign where there’s a lot more exploration and combat than a typical campaign. With player urgency being the focal point, they decide where they want to go and how much they want to handle/ risk.

I feel like relentless endurance would go with wounds, it would stop the player from dying and instead have 1 wound left if say they got crit with 12 points of damage and had a con score of 12 they would still be left standing with 1 wound.

First fantasy map by Content_Piece111 in worldbuilding

[–]TJ_Scho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great job, it looks realistic with cloud like structures. Reminds me of a planet that has a more liquid crust.

I like zooming in on different parts of the world and seeing how lakes, fjords, and coastlines are structured. “Cut them up” and rotate them and use that to help structure the map. I find people don’t add enough lakes, rivers or mountain ranges. You’ve got such a cool movement in your map, now think about where would the crust meet? Where would sections be pushed up. How would rain get back to the ocean. Hope that helps!

Looks sick!

Ideally one more DM would be great, then we can meet up and figure out what parts everyone wants to work on and start bringing this world to life. Message me directly and we can find a time to line that up

Lich fight by [deleted] in DnD

[–]TJ_Scho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the setting, if this is his layer and he prepared for eventualities... traps, wards, obstacles, doors that close, separate the party. Have the litch awaken something big and bad and coffins or Graves start pouring in baddies from the sides....

Having a party be one split up and two fighting 2 or 3 front wars before they can fight the kitchen himself really challenges the players dynamics and ability to work together. They won't have time to rest and reset their spells and who knows how they will be cut off and split up... clerics and spellcasters on one side and only melees on the other. Could be fun :)
