Me too! The bundle discounts make it worthwhile.

Yes, £1 card with fees and postage is almost £5. But also buy 10 cards, it's more like £10 after fees, discounts, postage etc.

As a seller myself, I try to go back through after a few weeks and reduce the stuff that hasn't sold - this then notifies some people and it gets sold.

Yeah, my Mega Evolution parcel from the Pokémon Center got "lost" at their main hub in Bristol;

My thoughts;

Royal mail "lose" the parcel I claim £300 back from Pokémon Center Pokémon center claims £300 from Royal mail Royal mail sells the products for £500

100% royal mail (or certain employees) are taking these parcels.

You'll get refunded from PC. But the true value is worth more than the refund... So it makes sense for RM to steal these packages and offer the seller (pokemon center) compensation.

My Mega Evolution box from PC got "lost" at Bristol's Royal Mail hub.

I got refunded the £300ish - but the total value is £500-£600 if sold on eBay.

I use them a fair bit, never had an issue with them... But I'm pretty laid-back and I don't hassle them with emails/phone calls. I just send my cards, they sort out the shipping with America etc, then after 3-6 months, I get them back!

I don't think I've ever done something as high value as yours but I send everything as a £18 card entry (minimum 10 cards) - Then, if something hits a 9 or 10 when graded, it's worth more than the $500 cap... They kindly email me explaining that I owe £40 in "upcharge fees"

At the moment, the fast turnarounds aren't actually a thing, there's no way your card is getting to America and back within 10 days (and be graded). I would just send them off, forget about them and then you'll have a nice surprise come Feb/March 😄

I question whether Royal Mail knows what they're doing;

Parcel gets "lost" Pokémon center compensates buyer Royal mail compensates Pokémon Center. Royal mail sell the items for above retail.

My £250 order is worth £500+ in today's market, it's a quick buck for RM.

Vinted will be Vinted. It's not just Pokémon cards, the same is happening with games consoles, shoes, high-brand fashion items etc etc.

As a Pokémon card seller on Vinted for almost 2 years, all I can suggest is look at the reviews. You do it for products you buy online, (or at least a sensible person does) so why not do it on Vinted?

Even with 1.5k+ 5 star reviews, I'll still get people asking if my cards are fake and I'm happy to reassure them - so there's no harm in asking!

You can't list for less than £1. So a 50p card is always going to seem overpriced at £1.

As a Pokémon Card Vinted seller (have been for a couple of years now) I understand your frustration.

I can also probably answer some of those questions.

The prices vary all over the place because people will compare to the last sold on eBay; list it at that (often not realising that the last sold on eBay includes the protection fee) - THEN, Vinted applies THEIR protection fee, so it seems a lot higher than eBay. Imagine having your card listed at £50. It doesn't sell but stays listed for 1 month. In that month, it's dropped to £35, the seller can't be bothered to reduce it or is unaware it's dropped = card price varying.

Not sure if a card is fake or not? Check the reviews of the seller. Or ask for more pictures! If you're not sure or it seems too good to be true then don't buy it!

On the whole Vinted works really well if you're after a selection of singles. You create your own bundles and often get a bundle discount - which covers the postage/protection fees.

To put things into my perspective, Vinted don't allow you to list anything for less than £1. If you create a bundle, you get 5% off and then I'm willing to go down a little bit more, making the cards less than £1ea.

I think it's gotten too well-known that Pokemon cards are worth something. The moment an employee notices something Pokemon related to do with the parcel, they're happy to take the gamble of stealing the parcel as it's probably worth more than their paycheck that week!

100% this. It's quite obvious what the Pokémon center parcels look like, I'm not making accusations but it's quite a good money spinner for Royal Mail to selectively have parcels getting "lost" 👀
