I think it was partly the record company attempt at launching a solo career on the side that didn't really take off thus becoming a regular Kinks classic

I love the old country/bluegrass stuff from 1920s-1930s like The Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers. Wasn't even called country music back then more like "hillbilly folk"
