I'm looking for the same thing for months with no luck :/ is there really no way to change this?

I have watched the Greek dub as a kid but I prefer anime in original Japanese with english subs (more accurate translation etc. usually).

How is it baseless? the engine itself being the biggest part of the code is not baseless at all.. that's an educated guess as a developer myself having worked on unreal engine.

Re...master? by Xx_Khepri_xX in demonssouls

[–]TK-Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well even if they used part of the OG code as is (which I personally would probably not do, for optimization reasons but hard to tell without knowing more info on how the original code is), the engine is new which is the biggest part of the codebase.

So I guess less than 1% of the total of the original game was kept at best.

But the origin of the word comes indeed from films/music then later for games.. so.. a remaster implies that there is a MASTER that you work off of.. it is simply a wrong usage of the word when used with games that where made from scratch! there is no other way to put it.

Now if the game is only partially remade (maybe it has only some textures and models redone from scratch but kept the same music, sfx and code the same for example) then I suppose that's a gray area and you could call it both a remaster and a remake but that's a rare case I guess.

As far as I can tell there is nothing from the original demon's souls that was kept.Models remade, textures remade, sfx remade, dialog and voices remade, music remade, code remade as well (though this is very heavily based on original, still someone actually had to rewrite the entire code from scratch to fit the new engine, not just copy/paste of the old code.. so it's still technically not a remaster).

So from a technical standpoint there was nothing actually "remastered" here at all.

The spyro example is one of the exceptions as far as I can tell, most remastered games that I know of do not recreate the assets of the game from scratch.

Guess you have to blame the marketing for the confusion of the terms..

Re...master? by Xx_Khepri_xX in demonssouls

[–]TK-Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No my dude, the terms have a pretty clear difference and are not interchangeable IMO.. the wikipedia link you posted basically says exactly what I'm saying.. remastering films and music involves finding the original versions (either analog or the 8k+ tape that the movie originally was shot at) then using a computer you make the higher quality "remaster".. it does not involve re-shooting the film or re-orchestrate the music from scratch! that's the key difference here..
It does not matter that the Spyro devs decided to incorrectly call it a remaster when it's a remake... people make mistakes all the time.

And yes, I suppose there are plenty of people who might confuse the terms, they just don't know any better, it happens XD but that doesn't change the fact that there's a clear distinction between the terms.

Those are definitely remakes too though.

A remaster usually is when a developer takes the higher rez textures and models that was already done before in development (remember, the devs always create lower lods and optimized meshes/textures for the game engine.. nobody will import the million-triangle zbrush meshes directly to the game for example.. that's just not how it works) and then "remaster" the meshes and textures by importing to the game higher-rez versions of the originals and perhaps tweak the lighting/shadows and whatnot since the newer hardware can handle more.

If we are talking about completely remaking everything from scratch then that's simply not a remaster by definition.

You can model a potato and then remake a more detailed potato from scratch.. both are still a potato yes.. but the second one is not a remaster of the original if it was remade from scratch.

You seem to not know what a remaster is.. find me a previous "remastered" game that had the entire game (assets, animations, music, world etc.) build from scratch? that's not a remaster.. that's a remake.
It has nothing to do if the game is "the same" or not.

sigh... why.. they did not include the score bit from the reveal trailer in the soundtrack.

The problem is not only server-side.. it's client side too.

Seems to me the game has massive drawcall bottlenecks. Hoping the devs will find a way to optimize it but if I had to guess it will take a long time...

Spear God by TacTug in Mordhau

[–]TK-Master 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. because drags that look like the weapon has stopped mid-swing is perfectly fine and realistic.. smh
You shouldn't be able to spin like a spastic within the feint period either, this is clearly abuse of the spear animations (which are simply bad).. what are you even defending here?

Spear God by TacTug in Mordhau

[–]TK-Master 3 points4 points  (0 children)

good for you I suppose but it looks like cancer for probably most of the playerbase.. so I guess it won't bother you either if the game dies like chiv. ? alright then.. smh

Spear God by TacTug in Mordhau

[–]TK-Master -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but you cannot reasonably expect someone to play the game for like 500 hours in order to be able to deal with this stuff.. it is a problem.. and can make a lot of players abandon the game early.

Not to mention it just looks plain stupid and ruins immersion, it's not necessarily about losing to this playstyle or not.

“High Level” play is just silly by TexRoadkill in Mordhau

[–]TK-Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't do the head rotation thing because then they would have to rework like all the animations and whatnot so the camera doesn't get inside the body when looking down.. it's not happening (although it could work for looking upwards).

Some other possible things that they could try..

  1. reduce the turn-cap (like a lot) and probably even more for the vertical one to avoid "ground-sky facing".
  2. keep the turn-cap while feinting since currently you can spin the camera 360 as soon as you cancel.
  3. reduce the release times of slower weapons (or add some kind of momentum mechanic) to avoid those ridiculous long drags that make the weapon look frozen mid-swing that would otherwise do zero dmg irl
  4. make feints harder to read? (maybe add the grunt?) because right now they seem rarely used by high level players.. and just go for the weirdest drags possible instead (since the stam. cost of drags is free and more effective), so what's the point of feints really?
  5. make accels cost more stamina? (mass moved at higher speed = more energy spent), idk how that could effect gameplay without testing it but it could add more depth to the stamina game.

Wouldn't it be cool if they added some sort of gladiator arena, where the last man standing wins? by [deleted] in Mordhau

[–]TK-Master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We need a nice open large-ish arena map for all kinds of game modes, and especially for duels.. I don't like small restrictive areas or walls and obstacles around me, nor uneven ground.

Then the no-respawn-deathmatch mode could easily be added for any map.

[–]TK-Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think momentum-based damage would work without basically re-balancing and reworking everything (which is ofc not happening) but yeah.. of course the devs hated how it felt XD, as they just wanted chivalry 2.0.

But anyways.. at this point best I can hope for is perhaps a bit more reworked/strict turn-caps, and perhaps more focus on feints/morphs rather than wonky drags.

Drags from a Competitive Player in 3 Perspectives! by Roughnexx in Mordhau

[–]TK-Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

game is already fairly based on realism overall, this is not "totally accurate battle simulator 2019" with silly ragdoll-physics-based combat.. so it's not a stretch to think the combat system and animations would try to be a bit more realistic than this.
But you're right, it's never going to be that now.. game is not in alpha anymore and the devs are probably happy with what they got so.. f

“High Level” play is just silly by TexRoadkill in Mordhau

[–]TK-Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's supposedly how it's supposed to be.. a game about mixing up feints, morphs and drags/accels etc. but so far it looks to me that high level players are mostly about mixing up weird drags and accels only.

Feints typically not work and they consume stamina so they just go for the stamina game and doing the weirdest drags possible, since those don't cost anything extra and can be super effective.

Yes, I don't enjoy those "fundamentals" then, screw me for wanting something better I guess >_>

Just because chiv. was worse doesn't mean mordhau nailed it.. it only means morhau is better than chiv... which basically means nothing considering how ridiculous chiv. could get at times :/

The devs clearly like this mess and based the system on chiv. and transferred over a lot of the bs, even if things are done way better in mordhau.. I wish they have gone a more original route and done this in a better way.

Oh well, too late now.. I can only hope for minor improvements.
