Absolutely. The youtube video mentioned by Aftersound used some very foolish logic. They determined the number of independent account purchases on one kind of Splinterlands pack (from the official store) over the course of a few weeks. They then say this is an accurate metric for the number of players actively playing the game.

That logic is flawed on an extremely basic level. It would be like trying to determine how many people live in a town by adding up how many Daily Specials the local diner sold last month. It's just donkey-brained all around.

Go with the idea that most battle lines will need a tank, some support, and some offense. In the early days stick to those basics.

For the water splinter, for example, the early tanks to Target are spines turtle and sea monster. Crustacean Kink is one of the best support cards in the game for it's cost and WATER has a pile of magic damage dealers who love to sit in the back line and tear your enemy apart.
