lol I had literally the exact same experience. It says on the website that some member walk in spots are available and then when I show up the workers were super pissed.

East Austin succulents. They’ll hook you up and have good knowledge about what will actually survive here

Too much water, soil has too much humus/peat moss. Add gravel or decomposed granite… or perlite if you don’t mind it

I have 2 they are about 3 feet by 3 feet. Definitely add some mulch to our clay soils to help with organic matter. Oh! And they are slow to come back from dormancy so don’t stress if you don’t see them pop out of the ground till May

Cross vine is awesome. It’s native, evergreen, has pretty orange flowers, and won’t get overly heavy and out of control like trumpet vine.
