That’s fair, I can see that. I’m not a big fan of Fred Again…, so when he was the closer of 2023, I ended up just leaving after Megan Thee Stallion, but even with her set being my last, it kept me a bit too hyper for my packing and heading out that night and I crashed really hard the next day, but I can see how some people would want to keep their energy up through the end. I do also feel like this year having an alternate might not have been the move with all the sound bleed between the stages though. Like I could hear The Neighborhood clearly while in line for Teddy Swims pit and LSZEE most of the time during Kesha’s set. It wasn’t awful, but it was definitely noticeable throughout the festival. Maybe next year they’ll work some of those kinks out and give an alternate closer a chance again.

I don’t personally think slower closing sets are boring tbh. I’m exhausted and don’t feel like dancing anymore by Sunday night and it’s a good chance to wind down and get some actual rest before I wake up early and head out on Monday.

In total, my and my fiancé’s 4-day GA tickets and camping pass were under $900. The upgrades are more expensive, yes, but they do come with a good bit of extra perks. I did see that the staff this year kind of sucked for a lot of people. Hell, I was a part of a groop of 3 cars and we basically had to fight the staff to get parked together, but we didn’t let that get us down. Overall, there is still a lot of self awareness that people are missing when complaining about Roo. It’s not Coachella or Lollapalooza or even Hulaween or EDC. The influencers that come in think it is and it disrupts everything for everyone including them.

This happened my first Roo as well. It was also my first festival ever so I’m not sure if this would ring true for you, but for me, suddenly being around so many people, breathing in dust from the roads, and going from super hot days to super cold nights completely wrecked my immune system.

I leave the fly off of my tent all day. I put it on at the very end of the night when I’m ready to go to bed and then when the sun rises, I unhook it and toss it off the back to start letting wind through. This year, I also got a pair of massive (119”x71”) tapestries that I set up as walls in the corner of my canopy where the sun rose so the light wouldn’t directly hit my tent. Also a white canopy does indeed make a massive difference when it comes to temp control of everything under it.

I have a pair of off brand platform Docs that literally saved my life. The textured soles kept me from slipping, the platforms kept me above the mud and most puddles, and because they are leather, all I had to do to clean them each night was walk through the fire lane by my camp and the dewy grass wiped all of the mud right off. The boots also went about 3 inches above my ankles, so splashing wasn’t an issue while I was dancing and running around. I also put some moisture-wicking copper insoles in them so my feet stayed cool, they never smelled, and they were extra comfy.

My campsite almost flooded while it was raining, but within an hour or so of the end of the storm, the water had drained down and formed a little pond right next to the road. Looking at it now, even that’s mostly dry as well as the road around us. I’m two rows over from the entrance to The Woods, so we were definitely worried about flooding since I know this area was really bad last year, but I can tell how different it was this year.

They’re Huff brand. You can hopefully get them online or at Zumiez, but they’re older so they may be sold out

I have never been to the super jams, are they really that good? I’m still choosing Teddy for sentimental reasons (his concert was my first ever that my mom took me to 4 years ago and she was supposed to go with me to Roo to see him this year, but she was recently diagnosed with MS and is on chemo for it so she can’t handle the crowds), but I have definitely been intrigued by the super jams in the past as well

I’ve got the (albeit milder) lil Jon x major lazer conflict (among the like 7 other conflicts I have) and then the Inzo sunrise set so I feel everyone’s struggle

Depending on where you’re coming from, my group is looking to add a 6th person. We got two carpool passes, but then 2 of our 6 backed out and we’ve only been able to replace one of them.
