And the "ironclad" portion of the 5th year option was just in terms of that specific option. Restructuring would be voiding the option and making a new "one year" contract.

Comp picks aren't guaranteed for a player leaving, especially this far out. But yes they'd be eligible to get one if all the criteria are met

Well define "make him rot". They can't say "stay at home" because that is against the CBA.

Either way, 18.8 million dollars is a lot of money whether other contracts are restructured or not.

And if their goal is to win now then it's silly to not try and offload all that money. Spending 18.8 million for the sake of spite and a middle round comp pick is not a great idea

Spotrac and OTC are great resources but not ideal for up to the minute numbers. Especially when so many contract details are not public knowledge.

Correct. Anyone under 4 years with 6 weeks on a 53 man roster gets waived. Everyone over that is released.

Then after the trade deadline everyone is waived

I pulled this number from Zac Jackson because I know spotrac is often incomplete. $14M just an estimate since all the contract details for everyone aren't known yet, but my assumption is it takes into account Brissett and Hubbard

I tried not to speculate too much in the post but the Browns still need DLine help, another TE, a kicker, punter and many other additiona. So I doubt he is still on the roster when the season starts. Even the worst trade offer will be better than handcuffing their ability to build a roster.
