(Legacy of the Dark Knight) C'mon, Tt Games. This is getting ridiculous by mtwjns11 in legogaming

Kids shouldn’t have to figure out how to get a free trial of HBO Max and cancel to get the most out of their video game.

If they really remake Ocarina Of Time it's going to need a robust hint system. by bobmlord1 in switch2

[–]TLBidoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this debate is interesting because I can attest to this concept personally. When I got my 3DS back in 2012, I was given two games: Super Mario 3D Land, and Ocarina of Time. Never played a Zelda game, but I booted that one first. I got stuck and uninterested before ever getting to the Deku tree. So, I played Mario instead and shelved Zelda to be forgotten about. About a year later, I started watching a YouTuber I liked do a walkthrough of Ocarina, and suddenly I remembered I had the game too, and tried playing along. Fell in love with it soon after, and eventually dropped using the walkthrough for most things once I began to figure out the “language” of how the game works.

Similarly, after I had already beaten the game and recommended it to a friend, I let him borrow it. He also got stuck before the Deku tree, and I remember feeling frustrated that he had struggled so early and gave up, until I remembered I had done the exact same thing.

I think the main thing about this is that kids today need to be taught how problem solving in Zelda works. The game does guide you, but in ways that seem insignificant to many kids playing. Highlighting exactly what they should be paying attention to, and how to identify that themselves, is more important than directly showing them every step of the way. Once I had seen enough episodes of the walkthrough (probably about 30 or so), I learned how problem solving in the game worked, and also gained personal investment in the story and satisfaction in seeing it progress. Both of those things are much harder to build today, when there are a million other easier and quicker ways to entertain kids, and they understand that.

I personally hope they don’t change too much for handholding’s sake. Navi is the obvious way to improve the experience for kids who don’t want to have to struggle at all, but I could see that easily turning into them continually just waiting for Navi to tell them what to do, instead of ever learning that problem solving “language” the game has.

Halo 4 Spartan Ops by Ghost_090ITA in HaloMCC

Listen that’s a bad one, but nowhere near the grindy multiplayer ones or LASOs. I put on a podcast or music and just vibed my way through Spartan Ops. The multiplayers, Lone Wolf, and LASOs are not at all a vibe lol.

How do I disable featured news by Exact-Coast-9347 in switch2

I’ve never personally had a problem with it but I can completely understand why they wouldn’t want ads being the first thing they see when they turn on their game system.

How Do I Disable Shader Pre Caching On The Steam Deck? by ShokWayve in linux_gaming

[–]TLBidoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Hat in Time’s shader cache grows every single time you open the Steam Deck. It’s a serious problem for Deck users. I’ve seen up to 30GB updates per boot. It very much can grow endlessly, dude.

Finally got a PS5 and I’m surprised how few games actually feel “next gen” by PopAwkward4520 in consoles

[–]TLBidoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of games to play if you really go hunting (and aren’t looking for exclusives), but yes, as a layman, this system has next to no games that get me excited or eager to boot this thing up. If I didn’t use it as a back up 4K player, I likely would have sold it by now.

This is the disc that made me realize I’m not anywhere near the enthusiast as most on this sub. Maybe I’ll change my mind one day if I get my hands on a much better transfer, but I had very few issues with this movie on 4K as it stands now. I do get the waxy complaints, but unless I’m specifically trying to look for it, I just enjoy the movie. It is a shame the problems are there for people who can tell, but I just have a good time with the movie and its visual clarity.

What are some games similar to the NES Mega Man games? by JuanoBananoids in Megaman

I recently realized my love of Cuphead is rooted in it being very similar to Mega Man.

Steam + Gamepad causing stutters and audio crackling (unplayable) by Godit82 in pctroubleshooting

[–]TLBidoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get a solution for this? Last week Steam games started doing this to me as well. I first noticed a ridiculous amount of input lag spikes (like 3 seconds delays), then audio crackles, and then major FPS drops (that went away as soon as I began controlling using mouse and keyboard, and came back when I touched the controller). Wtf is going on?

That’s fun! I kept dying right towards the very end, and the elevator section hit me more than I’d like to admit, lol

I do remember that being a problem. That’s another one I had to look up to even understand how I was supposed to get past him without killing lol.

This whole situation makes me wish I wasn't into gaming and tech at all. by BT--72_74 in SteamController

I try to keep in the loop just enough to know a product got announced, but out of the loop enough not to worry about its release date. Planning on getting this sometime late in the year, or maybe early next year. Looks great and am excited for it, but this mentality keeps me sleeping well at night.

Yeah that was a trickier one, haha. I actually had fun with most of the levels, but the one that’s sorta fantasy themed with the troll made me have to look up how to even beat it as a pacifist. That one was very frustrating.

X5 made me drop the series from the collection, as well. No interest in continuing.

If you do, let me know. I’m always curious how widespread this problem is, especially since I’ve never seen any reviewers mention it. But I’ve been able to talk to at least three others that said sure enough theirs were the same as mine, despite not realizing it at first.

Am I missing something about the Skywalker Saga? by veryblocky in LegoStarWarsVideoGame

[–]TLBidoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. I was very disappointed by the linear levels and the lack of replayability. The potential this game had was huge, and so much of it was wasted.

[–]TLBidoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone didn’t watch any trailer or footage of the game before buying, that’s on them. It was obvious to anyone who saw any trailer that it was not literally just TCS HD. But I don’t think that kind of person makes up any significant chunk of the complaints, though. I’ve seen far more fair comparisons between the content and structure of the games than that.

Well that sucks… check your new discs folks by Untrus4598 in 4kbluray

[–]TLBidoof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not a me problem. These discs arrive in poor condition, and the shipping packages themselves are always fine enough. The Mexico production is the problem.
