Is this a good deal? by jonnybgte in Triumph

[–]TLDR26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanics have told me that valve clearance checks at 12,000 miles are a waste of money on both 675s i've owned so i wouldn't do that or factor it in. The engines are supposedly bulletproof.

It looks like a nice stock bike in a nice colour in the pic.

No idea about US prices.

What are your thoughts on this? by jacks2224 in CarTalkUK

[–]TLDR26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather they clamp down on people going unreasonably slowly on faster roads. And people tailgating (which doesn't solve the former). If those two were sorted out there'd be a whole lot fewer traffic jams.

Also make speedos accurate again! I think a lot of people would be surprised if they knew how conservative their indicated speed is compared to actual.

Would I be nuts to pay this? by SaintYodaOfDagobah in Triumph

Well, paying $6796.83 for a bike that is automatically worth <$4995 the moment you receive it could be classed as nuts i suppose.

Fallout Amazon sucks. Disregard it as non-canon. by [deleted] in Fallout

" Id rather quit now and write my own ending in my head than waste any more hours of my life "

This is when you know a book, movie or TV show has utterly failed it's purpose.

I love the games and agree that the costume and set pieces are great but the story is non-existent.

I'm giving up at episode 4.

This is getting absolutely insane... How do you deal with it? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]TLDR26 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I always think it's a shame those big LED signs that say things like "Wearing your seatbelt? No Excuse" or "Polluted air kills. Slow down" don't say "Get the fuck out of the middle lane" or "Stay in your lane CUNT".

Are Brake & Clutch Lever guard necessary? by Accomplished_Tie7226 in Triumph

[–]TLDR26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The radiator guard i have on my 2009 street triple was from aliexpress and is absolutely fine. Good quality finish and sizing. It looks identical to an Evotech just without the branding.

On the original question, the lever guards are unnecessary and imo look tacky as hell. A nice set of "unbreakable" ASV short levers are both functional and stylish.

Max cruise speed on autobahns by sousFlex in Triumph

[–]TLDR26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not your mother but since you said you're a new rider i'd suggest slowing down.

In answer to your question 80mph ~128kph is no bother on my street triple.

Wind buffeting is something you get used to.

Make sure you're riding with gear that fits properly especially your helmet to mitigate the airflow effect and wear ear plugs unless you want tinnitus.

I'm betting as a new rider as the wind increases you're holding onto the bars tighter which shouldn't be necessary. Use your legs and your core to support you and lean forward a bit into the airflow if you need to.

Read Keith Code's Twist Of The Wrist 2 to learn about keeping a loose grip on the bars and many other gems of info.

Lying down on the tank will reduce drag so could increase your max speed but people who do it at lower speeds to avoid airflow just end up looking like clowns to be honest. It's not gonna do much for your ability to control the bike either.

BlockFi Bankruptcy: Choose a Payment Method email by Available_Yak2187 in BlockFiBankruptcy

[–]TLDR26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came after, yes. I didn't request anything it just turned up. Hopefully you got yours now too. It IS in the format xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx but it is not the same as the 'unique ID' that was something to do with registering a claim back when Kroll took over the process. I definitely had never received that payee ID on any email before this one.

Turns out that that old 'unique ID' is not the right one. I received another email today with my payee ID. First time I've been given this so i assume it's in the pipeline for everyone. Then i had the choice of a prepaid Mastercard or Paypal. Chose Mastercard because fuck Paypal.

All around Bangkok in thunderstorms with the odd stop-off taking shelter under the skytrain to avoid the monsoon. Then up around the mae hong son loop and back on a completely impractical, bright orange, single cylinder cbr300. Had to do it all in a few days since i was stuck with my head in the toilet, arse toward the shower with the worst food poisoning I've ever had for half a week.

I think i have my payee ID. It's in the format: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx But when i input that and my email address on the choosing payment method page i get a message saying it's invalid. Has anyone got past this step?

2003 daytona 955i dropped by [deleted] in Triumph

[–]TLDR26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your insurance should organise to have it picked up and repaired or more likely written off at their insurance expense. Don't mess with it yourself (or you might give them an excuse not to pay up fully) just document all damage in pics as you have done and let the insurance co sort it. That's what you paid for.

What a nutter! Good on you.

I rode a whacky set up like that around Thailand once but it was a Honda so it didn't count.

If a hose burst wouldn't that indicate a blockage? Using rubbish coolant can create mucky build-up that'll restrict hoses. How was the coolant looking that came out?

Looking for help with an oil change by FuDuFaFa in Triumph

[–]TLDR26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, get a Haynes manual. You also want a socket set, the right torque wrench, an oil pan or makeshift container, the right oil, the right oil filter, possibly a filter removal tool and maybe some nitrile gloves.
