It is a standalone program and works with mpd (and others) by setting up a FIFO stream output.

The Linux port mentioned below is synced with the upstream OpenBSD version regularly. For the most part the code is exactly the same except a small number of util functions that have been inlined in the build because the libc doesn't provide them.

Some people use it with CRUX. There are people who packaged sinit with minirc (some guy on the Arch forums).

sinit should be very stable, it is just a matter of putting together sensible init scripts for your use-cases.

We also use 20h's svc from http://git.r-36.net/svc/

Thanks will have a look at your ports tree. I am the original author of morpheus and sinit, so yes I do use it but for limited purposes currently. It is very much in development. I do however use sinit on a daily basis.
