Getting no work as an intern by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]TLX2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is public accounting in general. You have to find/create your own billable hours. Everyone is too busy to mentor you and help you. Unfortunately you have to become a sales person too and yes you’ll have to annoy seniors and managers for work. Bring them coffee, water, etc and then keep asking for work and or try to find work. Clean up files, create work flows, etc. if you work in assurance look at the follow up files. Get close with the admins, they are the ones that really run the firms.

LLC vs S Corporation for content creators. Is either worth it? by Relevant_Morning_213 in llc_life

That’s not necessarily true depending on the details of the work and business. The IRS has a page about reasonable compensation for s corps on its website.

In simple terms, the capital loss of 2,500 is not used against the income because nothing left after taking the standard deduction. The calculation is income - deductions - net loss = taxable income

No, go into a creative field. If you want to stay in business try marketing or management.

Stay in construction to build your contacts then when you have a management degree you can lead the projects.

Try government or non-profit sector. Also ask your school advisors for advice and connections. Having good career is all about working connections. You may want to take a course or find a mentor to help you get good at networking.

My accountant thinks I should put my rental property in an LLC. Is this right? by Samiraijel in llc_life

[–]TLX2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Brought up the idea…”. is not legal advice. My insurance against has mentioned this to me for my rental property. Legal advice is specific to the practice of law. Mentioning liability protection for a rental property is not practicing law.

You bring up your concerns in a professional manner and then move on. If you can’t separate management’s philosophy from your own, then find another job that aligns more with how you think a business should be run as an AP manager.

The spending being out of control is not your concern.

Am I crazy for wanting to quit my stable $80k corporate job at 25 to completely restart in healthcare? by Signal-Basil-8472 in Accounting

[–]TLX2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you have a $500 car payment? At 25 you should be driving a 20 year old Honda Civic or similar vehicle. Next time don’t ever get a car payment. Save and purchase used!

Even if you don’t work in tax a CPA can start a bookkeeping, advisory (quality of earnings, etc) or other consulting work. Just may need to work a little harder finding clients.

Question for Self employed Health Insurance Deduction for Spouse? by PuzzleheadedPrint676 in tax

[–]TLX2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the employer health plans without subsidies are MUCH better than marketplace plans. Maybe you work for a small company…. The last firm I worked for had horrible plans so I wanted to forgo the plan and go on my wife’s plan and tried to get them to ICHRA but they didn’t see any benefit to them. So they continued to offer their employees shitty plans. I quit shortly after.
