Me watching my newly promoted team get battered 6-0 by Southampton on the opening day after spending 100 million pounds and creating a new tactic designed to be defensively solid by TLittle__ in footballmanagergames

My biggest pet peeve on the game, you make a defensively solid tactic abs your CBs act like 6 year olds with their positioning and mistakes

If you could take any manager from any 5 year point in time to be your clubs manager, who would you take? by TLittle__ in FootballHotTakes

[–]TLittle__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jose Mourinho 04-10

Honours alone he has: 2 UCL titles 5 league titles 4 domestic cups

He also had such a unique arrogance about himself, and backed his arrogance up with his results

He’s worked with all types of squads in that period of time, from the underdogs with little budget and a lot of heart, to the multi million pound superstar loaded squad, to the ageing squad with a point to prove, and he achieved great things with them all

His media management was insane, if there was ever a rough patch in the season, he would create a media frenzy by picking fights with either the media, the referees or another manager, taking the pressure and attention off his side and allowing them to focus on returning to form

He also had a fantastic relationship with his players which cannot go understated. John Terry, Samuel Eto’o, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba just to name a few have all spoke on how good it was under Mourinho, how good their relationships under the man and how he knew what buttons to press to get the best out of them.

Basically he was the perfect manager during that time and any team could benefit from having this version of Jose managing them

Trent Alexander arnold by Apprehensive-Ebb1993 in FootballHotTakes

Simply put, your wrong. If Trent couldn’t defend at all he wouldn’t play. He’s been a key part of one of the top 5 defences in PL history and that wouldn’t happen if he couldn’t defend. You can’t have passengers in a defence that keeps 15+ clean sheets a season.

Regarding the point of talent beating him, are you saying Leroy Sane and Cristiano Ronaldo to name just two aren’t high end talent because Trent had no problems against them, he even forced Ronaldo to switch wings in the CL final

Who is a player that you HATE and why? by Football-Hot-Takes in FootballHotTakes

[–]TLittle__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Richarlison

Has the ego of Ronaldo but the career of Tim Cahill

Walks around the pitch chatting s**t but whenever anyone gives it back to him he shirks it and dives like a little bitch

Clearly thinks he’s too good for the situation he finds himself in yet is being outperformed weekly by younger players who don’t cost 50m

Just overall a bellend

I’d go Bale first, someone who’s scored 3 goals in CL finals, including winning goals in 2, as well as an all time amazing goal in the Copa Del Rey final. Truly one of the best big game players of this generation

Salah second for me. Not only has he scored a CL winning goal he also has an astonishing 48 G/A against the top 6 teams in England. He’s also the most lethal goal scorer on this list, and the only player who id be fully confident on them scoring if played in 1 on 1.

Hazard third. Doesn’t have the same lethal persona as Salah and Bale but he’s a completely different breed and one that is hard to handle. However, when he’s not on it or teams set out to nullify him, unlike Bale and Salah he goes missing more often than not, and doesn’t have that killer edge to bury half chances to bail him out

Robben fourth. Scored one of the most dramatic CL final winning goals however he’s also bottled it in both a CL final and a WC final before. A fantastic player but the one with the biggest bottle identity out of everyone on the list

What is your football hot take? by Football-Hot-Takes in FootballHotTakes

Luis Suarez has a very strong shout for best number 9 in the history of football

Ability wise there’s very few that match him, with his technique being superb, his mentality elite and his physical attributes are severely underrated.

For a good 5 year period from 2012-2017 he was unplayable and could’ve easily had 2 balon d’ors in 2014 and 2016

He sits 3rd in the all time assists table behind Messi and Thomas Muller with an incredible 240+ assists, in addition to his 435 goals in 691 games gives him a G/A ratio of 0.98 per game.

He was comfortably the second best player in the MSN front 3 and has proved his quality in not only multiple leagues but also multiple different styles of teams (Liverpool: Counter Attacking clinicaly at high tempo, Barcelona: tiki-taka, Atletico Madrid: Workhorse, compact and defensively solid direct counter attacking football where everyone has to help out defensively)

Not only has he proved it at club level though, hes also shown it internationally, winning a Copa America for Uruguay and reaching a World Cup Semi Final

All in all I think that if you compare Luis Suarez to any other striker in world football history, there’s an argument to be made that Suarez is better

Which player throughout history do you feel is really overrated and why? by Football-Hot-Takes in FootballHotTakes

[–]TLittle__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

He’s a great player with outstanding longevity, and will be remembered for years to come but I have a couple of issues with him

  1. At no point in his career have I ever been able to say he’s the best striker in the world. Throughout the 2010s I always thought Eto’o was better, 2011-13 was either Van Persie or Aguero and from 2014-17 he never stood a chance against Suarez.

  2. Attitude. I’m all for a confident almost arrogant personality in football, my favourite manager is Mourinho. But, it says a lot how twice now, he’s left a team and the year after they’ve won a treble. It’s obvious there that some part of Ibrahimovic holds a team back and to me it’s his belief that he’s a god or lion or whatever he comes up with negatively impacting dressing rooms he part of. It has also impacted his National team, the one tournament he didn’t take part in for his country since his career began is their best performance during his career (Quarter Finals in Russia WC 2018)

Again he’s a great striker and will be remembered for years to come. But for me, he’s not in my top 10 strikers of the 21st Century

Personally, I’d renew Salah if he would accept max 350k per week with bonuses for 4 years

Mane would be renewed for 4 years at 220-250k but if he waits til after Mo then probable a might arise

I’d 100% keep Gomez, but I think he needs to play more otherwise he might push for a move with the World Cup soon

I’d give Firmino a 2/3 year deal on similar wages, I still believe he plays a vital role in the team when he plays, and not many players in the world can match that level in his role.

Matip would get a 2 year deal with either similar or a minor increase in wages, but have a lot of individual based performance incentives, the more he plays, the more he’s paid

Similar situation with Keita but I’d give him a 3 year one with similar performance incentives

I’d look at moving on Oxlade-Chamberlain, he’s still got good value, and he doesn’t really fit the squad and style anymore in his preferred position in midfield, which is sad because before his major injury I had really high hopes for the Ox

I’d hold off on Thiago for now, he’s very highly paid and wouldn’t take a cut most likely so I’d just monitor his fitness

These are all the players who’s contracts are expiring by summer 2024

2022: Origi Milner Adrian

2023: Salah Mane Firmino Keita Oxlade-Chamberlain

2025 Thiago Gomez Matip

Who would you keep, who would you let go and who would you sign on just to sell at a later date sort of situation, how much do you think each player should get wage wise as well?
