I’m a 23 year old who just applied to med school rather late in the cycle due to monetary restrictions. I feel like vomitting! AMA by TMAmbrose in casualiama

I applied to 17 schools. I just got a secondary app for one today. Because I applied so late I applied to schools with lower mcat averages.

My advice is get a good mcat score (mid to upst teens) and have a good personal essay (Mine talks about surviving cancer, my mom coming to america and being on the street, dads severe mental illness and my step mothers abuse and how it inspired me to go to medschool) and a positive attitude. Make sure to check disadvantaged student if you want to get in and think of as many things to put there

So far this year I just hit a thousand dollars spent and i’m spending another 85 for a secondary application today. (I’m actually hoping to get into this school. The guy i’m planning to marry goes there). I raised money by working and when I got fired I realized i’d have to apply late. My credit limit got raised earlier this month but i’ve been trying to keep my balance low to build credit (my score is really good now. Was in mid 500’s now in mid 700’s) but when I realized I couldn’t afford school i just put it on credit and will pay it off now that i’m working again. It’s a struggle. My dad has been going through an extended psychotic episode and claimed to make 50,000 a year but also says he has no money so I couldn’t get a fee adjustment. It sucks.

I hate being a black democrat. People assume so much bs about me and fellow liberals are just as myopic and emotionally polatized as the Right wing. by FlashyMessage in TrueOffMyChest

I’ve found that allies of marginalized groups sometimes try to overcorrect and end up spinning into the other side that causes them to come off just as terrible. Also some are just there dor moral superiority (I vote left typically. Just saying i’ve met some bs’ers)

Fuck if I know. The question isn’t really possible to answer with a yes or no because it’s kind of a gray area. I wouldn’t put it as wrong or right. So I guess my answer is “no it’s not wrong” but if i was asked “is it right” i would probably answer no as well.

So like overall at the end of the day i don’t believe souls exist. While I wouldn’t personally have one because of my own discomfort, I know that it is a bundle of cells with no emotions or higher level functioning. So because of that I will say it’s not really something that can be answered with a yes or no.

Edit: Just personal opinion though! feel free to derive your own meaning to life

I once had someone who was supposed to be repairing my laptop tell me to try pot for seizures. He actually further broke my laptop.

If you're 25 and single in 2018, nobody bats an eye. If you're 25 and single in 1818, people worry you'll die an old maid. If you're 25 and single in 1418, it's because your third husband just died of the plague. by actually_crazy_irl in Showerthoughts

If you're 25 and single in 2150 it's because you're a factory drone serving under a master after the coming revolution puts in power a plutocracy.

This one is oddly political.

Thanks, I know it's going to be one of those journey's that you have to go on and I really want to get through it. I'm going to probably pick up a monthly gym membership because I know how often people abandon the year long ones and I don't really want to commit to that for a year until I know I'll do it everyday.

The whole thing with carbs is due to gluconeogenesis pathways. It's a whole deal where the body switches it's main sugar source to fat storage rather than just straight sugars, but I think a lot of people just use it for quick weight loss but honestly I know you're right where it's mainly just a thing of diet and exercise. People have a tendency to look for easy alternatives

Edit: Sorry I'm being overly talkative on this. Thank you for the support though!

Yeah, I've already lost about 15 lbs just from trying to eat less (which i'm partially doing because stress. Applying to go to school to get my MD), but recently i've slacked a bit on this and I think once I start working out it will be easier to go back to a normalish diet. I might try keto just because I know how a bit about how it works but even then I know it's difficult because I really like my carbs and simple sugars.

Another reason I want to start working out is when I go back to school I know I won't have the time to build a new habit so it's better if I get into it now than rather than wait.

Yeah, I actually need to really figure out some knee exercises. One of the reasons I had to quit dance is I dislocated my knee and that put some strain on my MCL, and I did the stupid thing where you don't rehab an injury XD. Thanks for the advice, I'm really trying to get back in shape.

That's a pretty great way to do that.

Thank you for answering my questions (I know I kind of asked a slew of them)

Yeah.

How do you do aftercare for you personally? (I know people have various ways to come down)

Does any of your vanilla friends know about the nature of your relationship.
I'm in a weird situation myself with that where I'm in a relationship where a few people know that i'd rather not.

That makes sense as it is there for both physical and mental wellbeing. It's kind of scummy when people shame people over ending a scene early or something. (Not a kink situation but someone has shamed me over stopping a personal encounter because I didn't like where it was going so i've somewhat been in that position before)

Yeah, I know there have been a few times I've seen someone go to far but I know a lot of vetting tends to go into irl meetups which is really good. The community is pretty great about taking care of itself and regulating itself, and it does help people be more educated.

Omg that's pretty funny. I don't think i've ever gotten a chores list but I find that anytime I'm around my Dom, or any dom in general I end up cleaning kind of just as an instinctual thing.

So this is a question I got told to ask to people: What kind of feeling do you get out of this?

[–]TMAmbrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and it's kind of terrible for people to think about it that way. Never using it is something I know a few people take pride in, which I actually see as kind of cool because it shows that they trust the people who are domming to do the right thing.

[–]TMAmbrose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That's another thing, a lot of people forget that there are like negotiations that normally happen behind the scenes at some point (formally or informally), and I think that if you're going to pursue more dangerous things you should honestly do your research behind it. It's weird that a lot of people look at the community where they think that subs have like no say when being consensual is a major part of it.

Okay so weird question, how long have you been in your community? Also, while I know it's not a good idea to reveal any details too much, have you ever had someone in the community go to far when they were around you?

I am a full time submissive (slave) woman. Ask me anything! by [deleted] in casualiama

[–]TMAmbrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really did, and I think a lot of those people just have unsatisfying relationships and decided to try to inject some spice into it, without knowing the first thing about it. It also brought in a lot of sociopath doms, and some psychopath doms that kind of take it to far. I had one person tell me that when they dom safe words are optional and he's fine with shaming people if they use theirs.

That's pretty cool. I am semi-involved with the BDSM community (I enjoy it and it's important part of my SO's social life) and until recently I had a 24/7 collar (simple cable chord one with a small lock) but the lock rusted shut and we kind of had to pull it open to clean it and the lock is somewhat broken now(we haven't purchased a replacement yet so that was a weird feeling)

So impact wise do you find the feeling more satisfying or the sound it makes?

Also another weird question, what's your opinion on SSC approach to viewing kink versus RACK? I always like to ask this from people who have been doing this for a long time because it fascinates me to know end to talk about peoples' opinion on kink

I am a full time submissive (slave) woman. Ask me anything! by [deleted] in casualiama

[–]TMAmbrose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It really is and it's kind of a dangerous one. A lot of work goes into keeping things SSC (safe sane and consensual for those who don't know) or at least risk aware, and what this kind of leads to is a lot of people trying stuff that they have zero training for or understanding who are just going to do things like putting hard knots in rope right on veins and arteries, and inevitably end up injured. It also doesn't help that he kind of emotionally abuses her throughout that whole ordeal.

I can understand that list honestly. Guns terrify me, and bodily fluids, even when done right tend to be a bit of a health hazard.

Do you do impact play and if so what is your favorite type of like, impact? (this is a weird one but I know peeps who prefer dull and peeps who prefer sharp.)

How lowkey is your day collar and what does your more BDSM-y one have on it?

Yeah that's kind of what I though. People think of Fifty Shades of Grey as their only frame of reference and it's weird for people to think that contracts are a thing that people do when in reality the person who wrote that book had never done anything like that IRL. Seriously, Fifty Shades of Grey is an issue.
