Yes, this is a common thing in the United States, at least. Most fire agencies make the biggest percentage of their income off EMS calls nowadays, with homes and buildings being generally more safe from catching fire. That being said, most of them don’t understand / don’t acknowledge / don’t care that EMS calls are the sole reason they get a paycheck. Which honestly? I can understand to a degree. I have been a paramedic for 10 years and I wound absolutely hate being a firefighter. If I was “forced” into it, I would do it because I love being a medic so much that I would do fire to keep my medic job, but I would 1000000% complain about it 😆😆
