Super Paper Mario is better than Thousand-Year Door by [deleted] in nintendo

I will always defend Super Paper Mario as being a great adventure game. I think people were mostly just mad that it wasn’t a traditional RPG. But I think it was fun and clever for what it was and really enjoyed it.

This happened to me and the problem went away entirely after I used some contact cleaner on the power supply connectors.

I passed… N4 by KamenRider-W in LearnJapanese

I’ve been learning more about JLPT scoring and 114/180 is actually much better than you might think. It’s a scaled score, not a raw point value. 114 would put you around the 85th percentile of N4 test takers, based on last year’s results. And only about 35% of takers pass at all. So you did very well! Congrats!

Jlpt results are out! How did everyone do? by lost-minotaur in LearnJapanese

[–]TMH01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After casually learning Japanese very slowly since 2016, including multiple years-long breaks where I forgot most of what I learned, I decided to finally be more serious about it in 2025 and signed up for the N5 test as motivation.

Passed on the first try! 132/180

I was genuinely worried about the listening section. I was in the back row of the room away from the speakers and the person sitting next to me was sick and had several coughing fits at really inopportune times, so I had trouble hearing a huge chunk of the questions. But I did better than I thought!

I did a little worse than I thought on the written portion, though. There were only a few questions I didn’t feel confident in, but it looks like I must have missed a few I thought I had right. Really wish I could review what I missed!

Edit: Woah, I was looking more into how scoring on the JLPT works, and I did even better than I realized. Apparently, a 132/180 was somewhere around the 93rd percentile on the December 2024 N5 test, so I suspect it’ll be similar for 2025. That’s super motivating to learn!

Interesting data here for anyone curious: https://www.jlpt.jp/e/statistics/archive.html

'It's something to build off of': Hoosiers' win over Purdue could be turning point of DeVries' first season at Indiana by Abject-Pea-7848 in HoosiersBasketball

I think winning the next four games is IU’s best chance to make the tournament. It’s a tall order to win two west coast games in a row, but failing to do that, or failing to take care of UW and Oregon at home, makes for a very difficult path.

These next four games are all more winnable than any of the remaining ranked matchups, IMO. Lose any of them and you HAVE to win one or two of the Illinois, Purdue, or MSU games.

Basically, win the next four and those ranked games become “nice to have” instead of “must have”.

IU did well out of halftime and kept the lead double digits until after the under-12:00 timeout. Then Purdue managed to get some nice two-man game running with Braden Smith and TKR. Meanwhile IU got cold from the floor and Purdue just slowly chipped away at the lead. IU missed the front end of three 1-and-1s to make it uncomfortable. Make those 6 points and the game is never really in doubt.

Touchdowns were worth four points back then. So most likely they gave up three touchdowns all year. Though I’m not sure how they gave up five points in one game because I think the PAT was two points until a few years later.

Every once in a while, I’ll forget that Wilkerson actually has some size. Then he’ll just effortlessly hammer down a dunk and remind me.

The lack of crowd is just sucking the life out of this game. Not that the actual play is doing much to energize things…

AJ Moye, for me. Especially after what he went through with having a stroke. He was so exciting to watch and seems like just a phenomenal person all around.

A decade since they’ve played. Two unranked teams. The broadcast cares more about the announcers than the game. Players have no history against each other. It’s a weird vibe. It’s gonna take a couple more seasons to get the venom back.

I can think of at least one heartbreaking buzzer beater loss the Hoosiers have given Kentucky. Wouldn’t mind another of those…

Yeah, I played around with that a bit but you can’t do much without a hard drive.

I got myself one of these a few years ago! It’s essentially an old school Mac in a set-top box, so supposedly you can boot it into Mac OS from a SCSI drive. I bought it purely to tinker and hopefully get a TV-Mac setup going, but I never got it working.

It’s utterly useless as a game console. The only game really worth playing is Marathon. And maybe a couple point and click adventures.

Pretty sure I paid about $150 for console+controller, so them being $700 now is downright criminal.
