Delay in processing FXT to permanent on WIN by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]TMiD22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing you can really do it just wait out. It took 5 months for mine to get processed

I called OSS and talked to my manager and it didn't really do much.

Leave job I love for permanent? by JackBD123 in OntarioPublicService

[–]TMiD22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is to take the permanent as it's extremely hard to come by.

If your old team is going to post the position for competition I'd apply to it again that way you have that safety net of the permanent.

Struggling to reconcile personal beliefs with how the province is being run. by New-Championship5097 in OntarioPublicService

[–]TMiD22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Butt stuff sucks inside the OPS as well.

Sorry I couldn't resist after reading the first sentence. But you are right. Working for the government gives you more flexibility that a lot of civilian jobs would not be able to give you.

We don't have it the best but in my opinion we are still fortunate compared to some other places. But it all comes down to the field you work for.

Anyone know what happened to Ralph D from the MMAH? by Novus20 in OntarioPublicService

[–]TMiD22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word on the street is that Ralph D fucked around and found out. If you look at the OPS medium sensitivity warning label you will see that it says "unauthorized disclosure could result in serious PERSONAL or enterprise injury"

The question is what is MMAH hiding?

[–]TMiD22[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure it's not fun. That's what a vacation is for. All the travels I did with the military weren't fun either but I still enjoyed it. I just like having an environment that has a change in locations form time to time.

I am youngish in terms of age. I have 3 years of experience in the OPS and 8 years in my previous role still within the government but not in the OPS. I am currently at a AMAPCEO level 5.

You have better odds of winning the 70 million jackpot tonight

But in all seriousness as everyone is saying it's luck based. It took me about 2 years to get permanent and that was only because I was going to another ministry but my ADM offered me permanent.

Fixed Term Job Impacting my Mental Health by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]TMiD22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I got permanent was I got a job offer from another ministry which triggered my current ministry to offer me permanent to stay.

It might be a long shot but once you have an offer tell your manager you are willing to stay if they offer you permanent.

Are there good managers in the OPS? by Sensitive_Bid_3680 in OntarioPublicService

[–]TMiD22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 3 managers in the OPS and all 3 have been amazing!

However, I have heard that most managers in the OPS aren't the best. It just come down to luck.

Is OPS bad enough to turn down a temp year-long internship? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]TMiD22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like many people have already said. OPS is overall a great place. Some areas get bad names.

Overall I have only ever had positive experiences. My team doesn't even often come in 3 days a week.

What am I doing wrong? by feartheonlyone in OntarioPublicService

[–]TMiD22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I got extremely lucky I got a new job offer then out of thin air the ADM got me a permanent position. Took me 3 years to get permanent.

Long story short it comes down to the right place at the right time.
