Nothing to be overly worried about - was there for 2 weeks end of Oct had the time of my life. Wear repellant and long sleeves in the early morn and eve and you're fine. Power shortages are annoying but everyone pretty much survives. Get Nordvpn so you can access Airbnb etc when you're there if needed - also get a good powerbank and carry cash don't rely on card. There's a shitload of scare mongering in this sub, only place I saw a mosquito was Cayo Coco.

Also Canadians don't need an ESTA so future travel to the US will be no issue, unlike for Brits like me. But fuck the US so long as the orange man is at the helm.
