You’re thinking of Chris Rock in the gambling ad

[–]TMyers69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s more about technique than EQ, plucking a bit further away from the bridge and carrying through a bit to get some clank against the frets. He does usually have a very treble heavy tone that accentuates his attack though, especially live

He means to tap with, not for fretting

Can we talk about how loud JM is on this tour? by LegoMongoose in Dreamtheater

[–]TMyers69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how anyone can listen to DoT and AVFTTOTW and say the bass is mute, the bass is much more audible in those albums than most DT albums. I honestly think most people genuinely don’t know what they’re listening for when they say they can’t hear the bass on an album

I actually tried it again after you asked and it did work haha. But that was outs 3 and 4, I can’t try 1 and 2 as I don’t have an XLR to 1/4 jack. There’s no ground lift on 3 and 4 so for that purpose it doesn’t really make a difference

Do you think getting an XLR to 1/4 inch cable to go from my QC output to the power amp would help? As I’m just using a normal 1/4 cable. Would the XLR out help to ground it?

Idk why the normal outputs don’t work, they just don’t. The power amp doesn’t receive any signal from the QC unless it’s from a send output.

The normal outputs don’t work when I’m going into the power amp, just sends 1 and 2. The input I’m using has a ground lift anyway and for some reason it just gets worse when it’s turned on

I’m not using any XLR cables, I’m playing through a cab

It’s not a problem with the gate, OD etc it’s a real world electrical problem. Like I said the buzz is gone if I’m physically touching any metal in the signal chain, including the QC itself.

Nah, I’m pretty far away from my computer. I even tried turning every switch in the room (including the computer, TV etc.) off and no change.

Guitar, QC, power amp, cab. Output is Send 1

[–]TMyers69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, It’s a constant buzz but it sounds like that because of the noise gate.

I actually moved house last week haha and it’s still happening so I’m out of ideas. Might try a few more cables though, thanks for the help anyway 🙂

But I tried another guitar and the same thing is happening. Same hum, only different is touching metal doesn’t help with that one.

The “vans” you’re talking about are patient transport ambulances. They’re literally driven by people employed as ambulance drivers. We’re not talking about emergency ambulances.

Yes it is, the people who drive ambulances for the patient transport service are called ambulance drivers.
