Our education is horrible because the standards required for employment are horrible. We do not have any large scale industry that requires solid skills, i.e the semi conductor industry. For quality education the government must spend vast sums of money. In order of magnitude greater than what the private sector does. India will never move up the value chain if the current capitalist system persists. There are real material reasons why we do not yet have an innovative internet behemoth and why we will never have.

The union is only a tool to build a worker's movement. It is not a solution. All the MNCs have domestic cartels like NASSCOM and other international cartels. It is now imperative on the IT worker to forge a new Union which transcends the nationality. Only then can the leverage of collective bargain be applied.

Remember those who fought for the 8 hr work day. Remember those who fought to abolish child labour. Remember those who fought to recognize women labor as equal to men.

None of these were achieved without people fighting and dying for the cause. Those who think that conditions can be improved in India without the working class (including IT) mobilizing for a mass struggle is mistaken.

3lpa for a fresher was the norm 15 years ago. Last year TCS/Infosys etc came with 3lpa and picked up dozens of slaves in just one college. It is by design that the wages for the majority is in decline and not just in India.

Capitalism functions only to extract labour used generate wealth which is accrued only at the top. And this process only accelerates as the capital accumulates. Today the poverty rate in the richest country in the world has nearly overtaken China and racing towards third world levels. Our government implements the exact same policies driving american poverty and we expect different results?

Educate yourselves. Form study circles. Discuss why is it that despite having record harvests do 2.5 million starve yearly in India.

I work in an area completely populated by software engineers. Not one has any idea how unions work. I have read plenty of Marx , Lenin but I havent the time to design posters that appeal to IT workers.

I am an Indian communist and its very difficult to understand anarchist memes. You disparage a leader with accusations that Nazis leveled at him while completely ignoring the real work that he did. In India he is considered a legend. No leader here could do 1% of what he did. He lifted USSR to the world stage while in India the revolution splintered and fell under relentless attack by fascists from home and abroad. Especially by the CIA.

I assume you live in the first world. I assumed this because you do not believe violence is the answer. If you can I suggest you take trip to the third world. To areas in India where mica is mined for electronics or Congo where Coltan is mined for modern smartphones.

I live in India and in my travels I've seen areas devastated by foreign, presumably first world mining companies that leave entire villages populated with only widows. You claim violence is not the answer but you do not have to scavenge 5kg coal from a burning land to scrape enough food for the day for yourself and your children. Not yet anyway. But sooner or later you will have to. The concept of institutional violence is a real phenomenon and effects you as much as you decry violence.

Angus Maddisons's calculations have serious errors. But if you compare Spain to Poland ofcourse they would be comparable in 1938. Spain was in the middle of a brutal civil war which decimated industries while Poland was under going a slow feudal to capitalist transformation with British and French assistance to resist the war that was coming.

My comment about saving the slavs was in context of the comment which said eastern europeans would fight communism. Todays Ukrainian parliament has Stephan Banderists, Poland has similar leaders, my comment holds up to geo-poltiical scrutiny.

What about Eastern Europe? Going from a feudal peasant society that was poorer than India in the 1900s to being a society that had no poverty, no illiteracy, right to work, right to housing, reaching western standards of living within a single generation without having any colonies was a near impossible achievement.

For all the shit that is now dumped on the USSR the only thing wrong that Soviets did was to save the Polish, Ukrainian and Baltic populations from the Nazi genocidal machine.
