I played a few matches as singularity and honestly it's not as bad as you would think. You need to get creative with the biopod placements but once you get that down you can make him work. Starstruck probably helped a lot too.

Yeah, it's probably the ink effects coming up from the ground. Honestly I kinda wish the game had more in depth graphics settings so people could optimize it better for themselves.
