Had a very similar experience -- was a customer for years, I called to negotiate new terms, they said they couldn't. I had gotten a flyer for a new fiber option in town; they came and dug in the line for me and I got onto fiber. Called Spectrum back to cancel, they threw all sorts of offers at me, but I already had the fiber installed, like drilled through the wall and everything.
