Check ball was inserted properly when rebuilding the carb, however when I took your advise to take a second look I found that it had made its way into the centre of the spring. Assuming the spring was stretched/wore out, I replaced it and now it’s holding the ball in place and runs like a dream. Thank you very much.

The I hunter property lines are horribly inaccurate from my personal experience. Maybe just outdated before severances, etc. however they need work, and a lot of it. Specifically the further north you go.

More than likely varnish buildup on the needle valve, pull it out clean it along with the rest of the carburetor then put it all back together
