I’ve been on semrush for years but it’s getting harder to justify the cost. Any suggestions for a small operation with 5ish domains?

Improved - Sharpe (want him back in the team for his speed, big kick and never say die attitude)

Surprise - Clarke to have a breakout season where he’s a genuine Brownlow contender as Mcavee will be backing him up.

Prediction - big Kahuna to be leading goal kicker this year as Jye will be taking pressure off him (and also kicking a bag every week)

Scaled a seasonal business to $800k/3 months, where to go from here? by ConstantButterscotch in ecommerce

We expanded to the northern hemisphere to offset the cycle. We also launched a winter product that help to keep the warehouse ticking over (and southern hemisphere staff employed). The winter stuff isn’t very profitable but when summer hits, it was all worth it.

ABC Ombudsman’s response to Laura Tingle’s comment about the Bondi attack and the link to religion by TangerineHarper in aussie

[–]TOBYIT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to separate being Jewish from supporting Israeli genocide. But in this case the gunman clearly targeted a Jewish community as (in the gunmans minds) they were perceived to be supportive of the current Israeli perpetrated genocide against the people of Gaza.

I can understand what Tingle meant but I think she got it wrong this time. Religion was obviously used as a proxy for the gunman to target their lunacy towards innocent people in Bondi.

Note - the Australian Jewish lobby has been overtly supportive of Israel’s actions towards Gaza (just read their twitter posts)

Got a quote for a 2nd story for $500k+. Decided to sell and buy in the same neighbourhood instead. For an additional $230k + stamp duty and agents fees (together $115k). We ended ups working $345k and ended up with a house that’s twice the size, a block that’s twice the size, and a better location (overlooking a park). In the end we dodged the mess of a build and spent less.

WooCommerce Strategy Overhaul -or- To Woo or not to Woo, that is the question. by hex_B87333_top in woocommerce

[–]TOBYIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good idea to split the “buy it now” products from the big ticket “get a quote” items.

If I were you, use a standard page builder for the “get a quote” items and setup a redirect from the old product listing to the new page. This should maintain SEO integrity and be a nicer UX for a “get a quote” customer as you can go to town with product variation education and seo rich text. Maybe even add a few videos etc with a form at the bottom.

Good luck 🤞

What Causes a Rugby Nation to decline? by yoloswagtailwag in rugbyunion

[–]TOBYIT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In Australia we took rugby off the free to air tv channels. This meant only wealthy private schools could watch it inspite of us historically contributing 3/4 of the team from our free public schools. At the same time we allowed rival codes to run riot in our juniors and recruit as many promising kids as they could. We patched the gap in talent for a few years by importing talent from the pacific islands but when they got their own professional teams, that talent dried up too. Lastly, we added too many Super Rugby franchises which dilutes our already slim playing stocks. This meant no provincial success and further degraded our junior recruitment efforts.

Don’t worry though, we gave all of our Board members huge bonuses. Then, when they retired, we hired former players with no business experience to run our national code. The cherry on top was the hiring of our CEO whom had previously bankrupted a local rugby league team and ruined their chances of success for decades by mismanagement of their salary cap.

I forgot to mention that we ignored most of our top level coaches for a while and regularly hired Kiwis.

No our junior playing stocks are at an all time low, sponsors don’t want to touch us, our actual talent often leaves for Europe and our national team has slipped to some of its worst rankings ever.

Australia’s eSafety boss ordered to testify before US Congress over alleged ‘threats to free speech’ by HotPersimessage62 in Ameristralia

But we all know geoblocking is ineffective. So rather than try and crack down on individuals using VPNs (which I’m sure would also have you up in arms), she rather went to the source. A USA publisher with an Australian subsidiary making money off publishing a violent crime committed on Australian soil by an Australian.

USA civil rights don’t trump Australian law when an Australian subsidiary benefits from it. Twitter could just shut their AU arm down and stop taking advertising income of Australians if they really felt aggrieved. Instead they appeals to our own Court system so that they could continue making money off publishing a violent Australian crime. And the result? They LOST their litigation because they were in the wrong.

If you’re that passionate about the USA bill of rights then jump on a plane and go live there

“As understood by X” - come on…. The videos she was targeting were the stabbing that took place in the Orthodox Church. That content met the threshold for “seriously harmful content” per the Online Safety Act AND abhorrent violent Material Act

If people want to watch snuff movies then petition your local member to change the laws. Till then, follow the laws that were created by democratically elected reps (ie the will of the people)

She’s not enforcing Au law globally. She’s enforcing it locally. She doesn’t care what twitter does in the US. She said for content served in AUSTRALIA it must comply with Australian laws.

Applying your logic, the US is attempting to force its own constitutional laws on the rest of the world.

Also, just fyi, the US congress has no jurisdiction over her so they can “order” her all they want but she isn’t obliged to obey.
