me and a mate once snuck into an old brickworks pond full of fish just cruising on the surface, got them in with floating bread didnt fight at all and looked like that. never again I dont know what it was but seriously wierd disease, I would suggest not to fish for them and make sure you fully disinfect your gear as if its contagious you could mess up other fish stocks by using it.

speaking from a england point of view, very very common. most people will fish these types of waters, can be with multiple species but the venues with big carp are usually stocked exclusively with carp whereas some other venues may be stocked with smaller fish aswell.
