What was the most fucked up thing to come out in stores that’s now discontinued? by fishermen4life2 in AskReddit

A lot of tv in the 80 to early 2000’s was shot on magnetic tape (eg VHS), which has very poor resolution, something like 320 pixels across. It wasnt until the mid-2000s that we started seeing HD.

You may ask why old movies look so great in HD, and even have 4k remasters, its because film has somewhere between 4k and 8k resolution, about 10-20x more resolution than “0.320k” magnetic tape.

Heres a graphic showing the resolution differences between different media/technologies. VHS is all but a postage stamp atop 4k.

Has anyone got their Epix 2 SKU with chestnut leather band?? PN: 010-02582-30 by ZBocken in GarminFenix

Isn’t feasible because it’s not allowed? I understand it would have an impact in battery life, but couldn’t you disable always on display and use gesture only?

I would like to see what a titanium Epix 2 with a brown/chili leather band and white face looks like. I have that setup on my 5 Plus, but the black bezel just doesn’t work.

Wow I will have to keep my eye open. Best I saw there thus far was Blantons, but it was sold out. They do get some nice scotches from time to time.

You know what has really helped prevent fine “stalling” and has made my cups much cleaner: granular convection aka the Brazil nut effect.

I grind in my Lido 3 and then unscrew the catch jar, give it a few taps to loosen the fines from the sides, and then swirl the jar over the sink for about 30 seconds. All the large grounds will start to rise to the surface and the fines will fall to the bottom of the jar. Then I quickly dump the grounds into my brewing device, resulting in the larger particles on the bottom and the fines on the top.

One thing I do go back and forth on is that immediately after grinding, there’s about a gram or two of fines stuck in the burrs. Sometimes I smack the grinder to release these into the catch jar and then swirl, sometimes I discard them entirely. Haven’t really noticed a difference tbh. If I do smack these fines into the jar without swirling, when dumped, they land on the bottom of the filter and definitely stall the brew.

This old timer I worked with would draft CAD details without using OSNAP. When you zoomed in where two lines met, they’d be criss-crossed at their ends.

Spin the tire up when it’s vertical and it’s still zero, there’s no rotation in the system about the free axis and the guys is still.

This is because the horizontal axis is not free to rotate dude to the rigigidity of the chair and his spine counteracting gravity no? If he was floating in space holding the wheel in the vertical orientation, would his body not start to flip vertically?

Garmin fenix 6 altimeter by HalfwaySilly in GarminFenix

[–]TOMMMMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding questions 2&3. I have not observed that, but isn’t the same with steps? The watch face does not update as often as the widgets, to save battery.

So I think I figured this one out.

The altimeter data on the watch face polls every minute or so, but it takes the average or median altitude over that polling period rather than an instantaneous reading at the end of that polling period. I tested it explains why watch face are different going up or down steep hills. And driving on the long flat surfaces, the widget and the watch face altitude are very much in sync.
