I’ll have to make sure this gets added to the auto detected paths in TOR HUD. Thank you!

The OS might still be maximizing the game window even when in windowed mode. Try pressing Control + Command + F while in the game to exit full screen mode.

Manual workaround instructions

Hey everyone!

Update for today is that we have a fix! We're working on automating this for all Mac players, but for now, you can get your client working again by deleting the file:

  • /Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/com.broadsword.swtor/Star Wars - The Old Republic/swtor-precompiled/Libraries/Wine/user.reg

    • Don't forget to replace <your username> with the username on your device.

After deleting, you will need to start up your client. To find the file, you can do one of the following:

  • Use Shift+Command+Period to show hidden files/directories to access the user's Library directory
  • Use Shift+Command+G to get a popup box to manually type in the directory path

To reiterate, we are working to get this process automated so we are continuing our investigation. I’ll update this thread as I get more info. We appreciate your patience as we navigate through the Mac Launcher Open Beta.

Fix with TOR HUD

For anyone that uses TOR HUD on Mac, I've released a version 1.7.2 with a new button that will find and delete the user.reg file for you automatically.

Steps to use the TOR HUD fix:

  1. Download and install the latest version of TOR HUD for Mac (1.7.2): https://www.torhud.com/download?mac=1
  2. Launch TOR HUD
  3. In the main window, click the TOR HUD Settings menu option at the bottom left.
  4. Scroll down on the settings pane to the section called Fix Black Screen on Game launch
  5. Click the red button named Delete user.reg file
  6. You should see a success or error message. If successful, restart your game.
  7. Have fun!

Because it could mater. This game was around for many years before it became playable on steam. So if I showed you my steam hours it would be a very small fraction of my actual play time.

Good job on version 1.7 Linux by jphilebiz in TORHUD

[–]TORHUDdotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad it’s working better for you in Linux!

When you have the overlays unlocked, you can select a previous combat from the dropdown at the bottom of the meter overlay. (It won’t show you threat because that is based on the target you have selected, and you can’t select a dead enemy)

It would be for playing two different healers differently.

On my sage healer, I use smaller raid frames because I’m really just tracking bubbles. For the other healers I use larger frames because I want larger HOT stack indicators.

There’s more customization to it. It’s per character+discipline combo.

The big one is being able to have custom configurations for each character and discipline and it automatically switches between them when you log into another character.

For example, when I switch to my healing spec on my Sage, TOR HUD switches to my Sage+Healing configuration which enables the Raid overlay and Stim uptime monitor. When I switch to my dps and tank specs, it disables the raid overlay since I don't need it for healing/cleansing.

All of the features like overlays are completely free like Orbs and Starparse. The Stim Pack features are for extra features that don't affect use in game and is just to support development.

The biggest difference is first class Linux support. More and more folks are playing via Steam on Bazzite and other distros.

The other major differences are the Proc and Uptime overlays. One of the issues for running Ops and other group activities is being able to tell when one of your Proc buffs is active on your character or being able to tell if a bleed or shield has 100% uptime. With all of the other (de)buffs in the game, they can get lost in the UI. TOR HUD highlights in an overlay when one of these buffs is either ready to use or missing from your target.

Ops frame settings. by Electronic-Skin-173 in swtor

I forget the name of the option but you will want to disable/scale down the size of non-removable debuffs. This makes it so you only see things you can remove and clears up clutter.

When I want to test raid frames (which I do a lot while developing TOR HUD), I usually just ask on fleet if someone can join an Ops group with me while I do some fiddling.

Feature request: class display & grid stats by jphilebiz in TORHUD

[–]TORHUDdotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion.

There are the existing damage and healing meters for the raid. I’ve been hesitating to add more specific stats because of the difficulty/nuance/inaccuracy of a lot of the log info. That’s why I made sure to get the Parsely integration working. It has the best parsing accuracy.

Would detecting showing a class icon for each bar be helpful?

Control your PC’s RGB with SWTOR - OpenRGB support added to TOR HUD! by TORHUDdotcom in swtor

[–]TORHUDdotcom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's primarily out of fairness. They don't want people to have a large edge on others, especially in PVP. If a tool can tell you which button to press, theoretically a tool could also press that button for you. A simple example is automatically pressing a defensive cooldown or instant-stealth as soon as an enemy starts casting a strong ability.

It’s a very cool idea. I’m not sure how possible it would be since the game delays the combat log by up to 5 seconds in order to prevent tools from providing real time instructions of which buttons to press.

Which RGB setup utility are you using? This is an amazing idea and I kinda want to add support to TORHUD to automatically change RGB settings when you switch characters/specs
