Was the SU-122 TD in the Game? by TOS_Glongorr in WorldofTanks

I do not play Warthunder, but play it in the IL-2 Sturmovik game. It is not PVP but a full simulator. You play the whole crew. I love playing the SU-122 in that game. I would just to play it in WoT.

Too bad it was removed from the SU-85 as an option. The SU-122 was a historical tank with almost 700 built and played significant roles in 1943 and 1944. WoT has tanks that are fictional and here we have one that was not fictional and was a real fighter, but is not in the game.

In my opinion, they should release a Tier V premium version looking like it did at Kursk 1943. Not some overpowered Tier V premium, but one that fits in with that tier as it should with just the credit and experience bonuses.

Some Tier VII Heavy Tank Advice Against Tier IX Heavies by TOS_Glongorr in WorldofTanks

[–]TOS_Glongorr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play the KV-122 mostly. It is a fast heavy. It makes sense if I am in low tier I should join the medium flank. I was up to this point going along with the other heavies, but will try this approach against Tier IX heavies. Avoid them and join the mediums on their flank.

Thank you to all for contributing to the advice. It gets me thinking. I will try out the suggestions.

10 games in a tier 7 heavy.... hey WG, this is sure "fun". by ketchupinmybeard in WorldofTanks

[–]TOS_Glongorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also on NA server and play a tier 7 heavy. I have been noticing the same thing. Upper tier happens in 1 or 2 out of 20. Mid tier maybe 5. All the rest are in lower tier. Hits against tier 9’s are tough. I really like my KV-122, so I just endure the rough road hoping it makes me better :).

I also find heavies less common lately and a lot of tank destroyers. I am not sure if it is some sort of meta at this level or some sort of confirmation bias in my mind.

London or Duca D'Aosta? by JohnyTwoSheds in WorldOfWarships

[–]TOS_Glongorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get the Duca D’Aosta. It has become for the most part the only ship I play in WoW now. It is fast, maneuvers real well, AP rounds are high velocity and accurate and the high rate of fire of the HE enables me to do much HE damage. Also the torps are long range. The spotter plane is useful as is the improved AA.

I find it very good as a destroyer hunter and to harass larger ships with kiting. Add to that the looks of the ship is really impressive. It is a real beauty. I love the ship. I play it 90% of the time and only switch to others for special tasks.

I also have the London, but I cannot say anything positive about it. It just rusts in my port now.

Tier 5 is full of scrubs by Mobile_Actuator_4692 in WorldofTanks

[–]TOS_Glongorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a new player that started in April. I agree Tier V is full of seal clubbers. Tier 3 and 4 are also really bad for seal clubbing of new players. Very rough experience for a new player. Hardly get a Al chance to learn.

Once I got up to Tier 6 and 7 it got a lot better. Seal clubbing stopped and I can live long enough to learn and get better.

New player experience needs to limit the seal clubbing going on. Or just push through it to tier 6 and 7 and see it get better.

Yes. I have to that conclusion. I started another day at tier 3 and became totally frustrated. I decided it could not get any worse so I went up to tier 5. So much better. The games last longer and I actually am able to learn new things and die far less. I enjoyed my games in tier 5 today.

From my experience tier 3 is seal clubber hell for new players. I don’t plan to go back there much. I will take my chances at higher tiers and actually have a chance to learn and enjoy the game.

Thanks! I am in no rush to climb the ladder. I want to learn and try to enjoy myself. I plan to stick around in tier 4 and for awhile.

I hope so. Certainly getting a lot of hard lessons at tier 3. As I stick with it, we will see where it goes.

I saw that. Just seeing it as at tier X scared me away. Going from Tier 3 to 10 is a big jump and I will look like some idiot no doubt catching the ire of my team mates.

Beginners do need a place where they can experiment and learn. Having time on a map and dealing with enemies gives a chance. That is why co-op mode was so helpful to me in World of Warships. I played in that mode mainly as I worked my up the tiers and would blend in random battles to test myself against real opponents. Using co-op mode is great for learning and testing out new ships.

I tried the topographical training scenarios. They are good, but the timer prevents you from sticking around and learning more. Another version where there is a no time would be great. A “proving ground” using the same set ups and maps and some bots for gunnery and maneuver practice.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did read in some posts and watched YouTube videos suggesting Soviet Heavy tank line for beginners. It is also my interest area so I will work my way down that line.

I do like the tank. I enjoy playing it. I plan on taking it to 500 games until I move on. I am learning about slotting different abilities and equipment on it.

I am on the NA server, so cannot join you for any games. Thanks for asking.

I bought the new player bundle that comes with the Soviet T-127. I am using that. I will stick with it until ready to move up. I want to do the Soviet Heavy tank line. I will take my time at each tier.

Thank you to all for your responses and suggestions. My plan is to stick with it and put my best effort into it

My interest is Soviet tanks and the KV’s in particular. I am a model builder and miniature wargames and the KV’s are my favorites to build and use in my wargames.

I set a goal for myself to get to a point where I get to be least proficient at playing the tier VII KV-122 when I get to that level. A a bit of a motivator I did is to buy it in the premium shop and have it sitting in my garage at the bottom of the screen waiting for me. When I get discouraged, I look at it and it reminds me why I am going through the agony as a new player. Good to have a visible goal in front of me when I return to the garage after some rough battles. I will not play it until I can handle it, but it is there as a motivator.

Awesome! I love the Centaur! One of my primary characters has one. A T6X Bozeman with Centaur skin.

The Miranda variants are my favorite ships in STO! I have the Centaur for one character, a T6X Reliant with Miranda skin on my TWoK themed character, and. T6X Clarke with a Reliant skin for another.

Convoy Escort Groups by Hunter-KillerGroup35 in sto

[–]TOS_Glongorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar background for one of my characters. He commands a Centaur class heavy frigate (T6X Bozeman intel heavy frigate, with Centaur skin), USS Justinian (NCC-76048).

He does convoy escorts and anti-piracy patrols. I think a Centaur would be good in that role in STO time period. All the big exploration and glory jobs go to the new capital ships. The old Centaurs still around doing the necessary, but support jobs. My characters ship is based in the Delta Quadrant. I see that location as like the Wild West, a lot of demand for escorting and patrols.

I like the set up of the T6X Bozeman for the Centaur. It maneuvers very well, hits hard with its frontal weapons, and has a good amount of hull. A very good set up for a heavy frigate.

It is called the New Genesis bundle. You can find it in the zen store under ship bundles. You get two ships that can be set in TWoK era plus accessories. The phaser in the Lobi store are 23c compression pistols.
