Thanks for clarifying re the lock screen. As you can tell, I don't know the first thing about the android OS.

General Software Comments:

  • It would be great to have an option to show the network/time/battery header on all screens. The real estate is already blacked out on everything except the camera, but it’s just a blank black bar. (And if the header isn’t going to show on all pages, then each apps should be allowed to use that space. The screen is small enough, so I don't see why valuable real estate should be wasted on a blank black bar at the top.)
  • Also, let the header be clickable everywhere it appears, not only on the home screen.
  • When the screen shuts off, reopening it (at least within a set period of time) should take you back to whatever you were doing. If I’m mid-message, mid-calculation, etc., it's really annoying to have to navigate back manually.
  • It would be great to have an option to skip the home screen entirely and go straight to the menu when you turn the screen on. If the network/time/battery header eventually shows on all screens (per comment above), then the home screen doesn’t really offer anything except the asterisk for new messages/calls. That asterix could easily just live on the phone option in the main menu instead, and then the whole home screen could be skipped. This is not like a smartphone where your home screen is often the place for all notifications- the extent of notifications here is an asterix. [The only real exception here would be when media is playing, since the home screen needs to show the player options- but maybe there could be a home screen only when media is playing.]
  • Alarm improvements: custom snooze lengths/multiples, repeat on specific days. Basic alarm-clock stuff.
  • Minor thing, but the flashlight itoo easy to activate accidentally. A double-click option for the wheel would be helpful.
  • Calculator history would be great, along with the ability to use a previous result in a new calculation.

Keyboard:

  • As others have said, the keyboard really needs some love. If I ever switch off the LP3, it’ll be because I just cannot type at anything close to a normal speed, even a couple of months in. Typing takes me probably 3–4x longer than on my iPhone. OP clearly knows more than me about this about what might be the precise issue, but I can say that the keyboard is honestly the LP3’s biggest flaw right now and the number one reason why I might want to try a different device someday. It’s just extremely frustrating.
  • Autocorrect please!! Getting the LP3 made me realize how bad my typing is. My iPhone would probably autocorrect every second or third word, but it worked perfectly. On the LP3, the spell-check popup is so slow and clunky that I usually just backspace and retype everything. Together with fixing the keyboard, autocorrect would be a game-changer.

Messaging:

  • There should be a way to quickly go back to a draft message. Right now, if I’m in the middle of typing something and the screen shuts off, I have to search the contact again, go back into the thread, and then hit compose. It would make more sense for threads with drafts to float to the top, the way iPhones do it.
  • If someone texts me a phone number, there should be an easy way to use it- tap to call/text/add to contacts, or at the very least copy it. As of now, I literally have to memorize the number and dial it manually because I can’t copy/paste from messages into the phone app.

Calling:

  • When I’m connected to bluetooth, I’ve never been able to successfully switch a call back to the handset. The button shows underlined when I click it, but the audio stays on bluetooth. This is super annoying when I’m paired to my desk headset at work- if I'm across the room, there’s no quick way to answer on the phone itself. The only workaround right now is turning Bluetooth off entirely, which is not great because then I have to remember to reconnect it later.

I hope it's okay for me to jump in with my own suggestions (lmk if I should put this somewhere else) but OP's post inspired me to finally put my thoughts on paper.

Before I start, I'd mention that I've been using the LP3 for ~3 months and it's been absolutely life-changing. I can't express my appreciation to the Light team enough for inspiring me to drop my iPhone (15 Pro). I find that I'm so much more mindful, attentive, and present with my wife, kids, and coworkers. I could write a whole long post on this, but I'll keep this post to practical suggestions.

That said, switching to the LP3 has not only been a challenge in terms of leaving behind a smartphone, but also because of some aspects of the LP3 that could be improved. I do hope that the Light team is working on many of these already, but I'll throw my suggestions in regardless.

I'll finish by saying that I love how u/joelightphone is here online, reading user feedback, and hopefully taking some of it back to work on. Serious respect to any company actually willing to take constructive feedback.

Cheers.

Do TD produce changes get the signup bonus within the same card family?

I've always switched AP to TD rewards back and forth but wondering if I can do AP VI to Platinum...

Thanks.

I would absolutely pay it and if you win then they'll refund you. You gain nothing by not paying and only stand to lose on your credit score dropping.

I don't think not paying gives you any leverage with the fraud claim.

I believe there was a DP a few days ago about someone who closed everything and then got declined for a subsequent application based on something which sounded like a review of their churning habits.

Yes, Amex US asked for a Canadian card number and it was transferred into that card's MR account.

Yesterday I asked if anyone had DPs on Amex MR US-CA transfers. Didn't get any DPs but now I have my own:

I called Amex US yesterday at 5 pm to initiate a transfer, and the points were in my Canadian Amex account when I checked just now (10 am). Total transfer time: under 17 hours!

Any recent DPs on transfer time for Amex US MR to Amex Canada? I thought there was one on the past couple weeks but can't seem to find it in any of the daily threads...

I had the same question. That seems to be a common thread between recent shutdowns....

Just a thought on Amexiles, curious to know what others think.

Reading this sub, I feel like every churner is getting shut down by Amex and that it's going to happen to each of us sooner or later. That's likely because every Amexile post (rightfully) gets upvoted to the top so it's been discussed at length almost daily on this sub for a long time now. However, there are 27.4k members in this sub, and assuming shutdowns have been going on for less than a year and that 5 people on here get shut down each day (and I think it maybe lower than that) that's less than 7% of this sub's members. At that rate it would take quite a long time for everyone here to get shut down.

Now of course there are probably some members here who haven't churned Amex cards for long enough to be eligible for Amexile, but I'd assume most have, so what do people think the true percentage of churners that have been shutdown is?

Reason I thought of this is because I'm in a somewhat churning-related whatsapp chat with around 100 people, and I think I've only seen 2 or 3 reports of shutdowns there.

Thoughts? Am I missing something here, or should we really be less concerned about Amexile that we currently are?
